If we see the start of sporadic border and sea clashes (like once in the past), I'll start to think a little more about the recent items on Kim Jong-Il's health.

You could chalk all this (and that) up to displeasure with Lee being elected.

I'd believe it is tied to that to some extent, but I'd also believe it is tied to on-going problems.

NK didn't shoot up an ICBM and quickly test a nuke because it thought it was a neat thing to do. I believe those acts showed a sign of desperation.

The US has eased up on NK since then, but not, I am guessing from what little I've seen, in any major substantial ways that materially benefit NK.

My guess would be NK still sees itself as in trouble – whether that has to do with Kim's health or the food & material needs situation or whatever – and Lee gaining office didn't help.

The way things sound, I wouldn't be surprised to see border clashes within the next 6 months to a year

We can scream all we want about opening up their market to US automobiles but no one here will buy them even at the cheaper price sans tariffs. The Big 3 are having a hard time selling our cars in our own country and they haven’t been able to shake the bad reputation that American cars have, especially here.

Also, having an American car here just invites trouble. Our Lincoln LS has been vandalized once and suffered two hit-and-run fender benders in the year we’ve been here. All three incidents occurred while it was parked on a Korean Army base no less (Jawoondae in Daejeon), where I’m an exchange officer at the ROKAF Staff College.
