I criminal probe should be started on this issue if true:
Kim Hyun-hee… has claimed that the National Intelligence Service under the Roh Moo-hyun administration plotted to spread a suspicion that the bombing was fabricated by mobilizing the three terrestrial TV networks. Kim made the claim last week in a 73-page letter to Lee Dong-bok, the head of the North Korean Democratization Forum. She claims she was thrown out of her house after refusing NIS requests to give interviews to the networks and has been living “a refugee’s life” for five years.
[…]
In October 2003, the first year in office of the Roh administration, “an NIS official said I would have to emigrate because I was causing controversy in the NIS,” Kim writes. […] Reporters for the three networks began to besiege my house, eventually exposing my whereabouts. As a consequence, I had to flee from the house at the crack of dawn one day, carrying my children on my back.”
[…]
Once they were made public, she was vulnerable to an attack from North Korea. Lee Han-young, the nephew of Song Hye-rim, the late wife of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il, who fled to the South and openly denounced the North Korean system, was assassinated in 1997 by a suspected North Korean agent. [Chosun Ilbo via DPRK Studies]
You will never guess what media outlet was used to initially disclose here whereabouts, none other then MBC’s PD Diary. ROK Drop readers should remember that PD Diary were the ones behind the fraudulent mad cow scare earlier this year that nearly toppled the current Korean government of Lee Myung-bak.
It is incredible to what lengths the Korean left will go to appease North Korea. The Korean public and especially the families of those killed in KAL 858 should be outraged that their government attempted to rewrite established history in order to appease North Korea. Worse yet they put the life of one of the most high profile North Korean defectors at risk to do so.
The bombing of KAL 858 is one of the reasons why I opposed removing North Korea from the State Sponsors of Terrorism List. North Korea has never come clean over the incident or paid compensation to the families of Korean Air flight 858 that was bombed by North Korean agents killing all 115 people aboard in order to dissuade people from attending the Seoul Olympic Games in 1988. When Libya was removed from the State Sponsors of Terrorism List it had to pay $2.7 billion in compensation money to the families of the 270 victims of Pan Am flight 103 that was bombed over Lockerbie, Scotland.
There is plenty of other terrorist incidents that North Korea has not been held accountable for but when it comes to accountability when has Kim Jong-il and his thugs ever been held accountable for anything?
By the way Kim Hyun-hee went on to write a book about her life as a North Korean secret agent titled, Tears of My Soul which is a pretty good read and another look into the hermit kingdom that is North Korea.

I really haven't paid much attention to her in recent years. However, I was incensed that someone who bombed an airline killing innocents on on 29 November 1987 could be allowed to walk free. Now she's running around saying how she has turned her life over to Jesus and deserves sympathy. Bullshit… Jesus may forgive her for killing 115 people over the skies of Burma, but don't expect everyone to be so forgiving.
She admitted to helping place a radio time bomb with liquid explosive in the overhead luggage rack of KAL 858 while on the Baghdad to Abu Dhabi leg and then deplaning with her fellow agent. Kim revealed that the two North Koreans had been traveling overseas, disguised as father and daughter, for more than three years in preparation for the operation. She was a pro. Sorry…I DON'T FORGIVE HER.
She's blamed her partner as a long-time professional, and she was only an idealistic dupe. Bullshit… The two of them posed as Japanese tourists. On their return to Korea, they planted a bomb on KAL flight 858. He killed himself and she tried but failed. She blames him for everything…
May President Roh Tae-woo (1988-1993) rot in hell for his supposed politically motivated in his decision to pardon Kim. The Supreme Court sentenced Kim Hyun-hee to death in March 1990. But Roh gave her a special pardon the next month. His supposed reasoning to the world was: The persons who ought to be on trial here are the leaders of North Korea. It sparked national outrage at the time when he gave her a FULL PARDON declaring that she was as much a victim of North Korea as the passengers. Kim Hyun-hee gets painted as a victim of the evil North Korean regime. What crap…
Then she writes her book, The Tears of My Soul, where she supposedly made a $1 million — though I can't verify that. It was interesting that right after she was financially well-off from profitting from her assasination of all those innocent passengers, she applied to emigrate to the US because of her fear of the North Korean hit squads. The US refused.
Well, looks like she's still at it again. She keeps on and on at how she has devoted her life to atoning for the 115 lives lost on flight 858 and has given her soul to Jesus. Sorry…let Jesus forgive her. She is a mass murderer and deserves no pity and forgiveness from those who lost their loved ones on KAL 857. In fact, they were cheated of closure for the sake of politics.
Kim Hyun-hee married a National Intelligence Service (NIS) agent who handled her. She married him in 1997 and had two children by him. She gave birth to a son in 2000 and a daughter in 2002. But she completely disappeared from media coverage after 2003 when a defamation lawsuit against a novel, featuring a conspiracy theory about the bombing, led the prosecution to consider summoning her as a witness. Now she says she tries not to be seen in public and has changed residences several times — but this time it is because of the North Korean agent threat. GIVE ME A BREAK…
The families of KAL 857 haven't forgiven her — and neither have I. The "virgin bomber" was nothing more than a cold-blooded killer who got a lucky — and unjust — break for the sake of international politics. I say she should just be glad she's alive — because a mass-murderer of 115 people does not deserve any kind of sympathy.

[...] Of course if you are a North Korean defector living in South Korea you’ve got to be careful. If the North can find you they will likely kill you. And if they can’t find you, the government might use the media to disclose where people can find you. [...]
