Believing that human activities can change the weather is like believing that the earth is the center of the universe. The earth is not the center of the universe.

The more than 650 international scientists who dissent over man-made global warming claims are more than 12 times the number of UN scientists (52) who authored the media-hyped IPCC 2007 Summary for Policymakers.

Oh, I subject I can chime in on as an actual meteorologist! Here's the rub about "extremes" in the weather….what is your time scale? The earth has had a "climate" for millions of years. You are looking at a slice of records which amounts to far less than 1% of history at a single point on the globe. It not feasible to say the climate is changing just because it snows in the UK (an event which by the way was both expected and predicted based upon the Pacific Decadal Oscillation and the North Atlantic Oscillation….but I digress). There are a lot of things that the US (using this nation as an example) can be doing in the name of national security and controlling our own economy to convert our energy practices and usage, but the fallacy of man-made global warming and the supposed ability to prevent climate change shouldn't be part of the arguement.

Yes man made environmental damage is causing the snows to recede on Kili and not global warming. If the writer of the article said that instead of blaming global warming then I would have no issue with the article. Australia has been in drought and is now coming out of it because of heavy rains it has been receiving in the last two years. Australia's rain fall is cyclical and during the recent drought years the total rain fall was similar to other years in the past century: http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/change/rain.shtml What is making drought years more significant for Australians' is the fact there is more of them. Colder winters in London just proves the point about the global cooling going on right now that I have already mentioned. It has even snowed in New Orleans this year. As far as snow in Las Vegas, it is not unheard of for snow to fall in Las Vegas: http://www.lvrj.com/news/36335684.html 3.6 inches fell in this latest storm, if you read the article you will see that 30 years ago 7.8 inches fell on the city. The snow fall record for Las Vegas is in 1949 when over 9 inches fell. Was global warming induced climate change beginning back then? All throughout history there has been freak snow storms and years of drought. To expect the weather to remain the same is not plausible.

I can't speak for Al Gore but I would have to agree that it probably IS the deforestation causing Kili's snow cap to recede. That is to say some sort of man-made intervention affecting the environment. As for the argument that our climate changes, yes I have to admit to embracing the buzz word rather than the literal changing of climate. How could you not at least consider the fact that SOMETHING is up when it comes to the weather. I don't agree with "Global Warming" per se, but I can't disagree that the extremes in the weather experienced in the last decade have happened, and might have something to do with environmental intervention by people.

If global warming industry cared about deforestation why is Al Gore and the rest of the usual suspects not repeating how deforestation is effecting the snow pack on Kiliminjaro and not global warming? GI Korea, a Global warming denier?! I feel betrayed. Oh wait a minute, no I don't. Global "Warming" has, and remains a bit of a fallacy.

But would GI Korea concede that there has been profound extremes in weather over recent years (maybe decade). Take for example this year's coldest autumn in England on record Vs The hottest drought conditions in Australia at the same time.

"Is there such a thing as climate change?" – that would've been a better poll.

The real test is to see if present conditions can be predicted by plugging in the numbers of the past.
