I will be collecting my Nobel Prize this year.

For what, you ask? I have solved global warming.

In conjunction with India and Pakistan, I will be arranging a nuclear winter.

Now people are changing the subject from global warming to climate change. I believe in climate change because the climate has always changed and will continue to do so whether someone drives an SUV or not.

The southern Sahara for example 5,500 years ago used to be a place of lush vegetation and lakes before the climate changed reducing it to desert and there was no SUVs to blame for it back then:

Sediments from the region suggest the semi-arid Sahel region, which borders the southern edge of the Sahara desert, was filled with lakes and lush vegetation as recently as 5,500 years ago. Countries in the Sahel have suffered unpredictable swings in rainfall, leading to severe drought between the 1970s and 1990s.

The cause of the droughts remains a mystery: some blame climate change and others say it is down to farmers destroying surface vegetation. Satellite images suggest vegetation in the region has recovered significantly over the last 15 years, pushing the southern Sahara into retreat. [The Guardian]

The destruction of surface vegetation is a man made environmental problem in Africa just like the deforestation of Kilimanjaro has led to the reduction of its ice cap.

The destruction of surface vegetation is also what is responsible for the ever increasing yellow dust storms every year over Korea:

The year’s worst dust storm to date has been plaguing much of Korea over the past few days, prompting the authorities to issue health warnings over the sandy winds blowing in from China. These dust storms are a natural phenomenon, but their fundamental cause lies in reckless development. Proper measures must be sought out to deal with this “human disaster.” These measures must be both preventive and alleviating. The damages are unilateral, because clouds of dust and sand, originating in the desserts of Mongolia and northwestern China, drift eastward across China and Korea. There is no way for Korea to block these storms by itself. The government must take a more fundamental and comprehensive approach by asking China and Mongolia to take preventive measures and by cooperating with the two nations. [KBS Global]

Chinese farmers are planting crops that last for only two years that sucks what little water is in the ground. After the water is used up the farmer plants on another chunk of land and the desertification of the land spread. Overgrazing is also killing the grass over areas of the Gobi that minimize the size of the dust storms. This increasing desertification is causing these huge dust storms which are having huge health impacts and have been linked to changing weather patterns in the Pacific:

Preaching the global warming religion does nothing to solve these real man made environmental problems but instead obscures them.

Advertisements and messages of controversial issues such as the current "gobal warming" monster, will serve future generations when looking to the past for examples of psuedoscience. (another twenty years should do the trick).

Unfortunately it will also be used against serious studies and recommendations in the future as well.

Such is life and the history of the human race. I understand Gallileo is finally being recognized.

As the article said, the "scarcity of water, food and energy resources" are huge concerns, especially in Africa and parts of Asia, but what do we see from GI Korea? Three pictures of Kilimanjaro with no mention of the real environmental problems that plague the region which are, of course, related to climate change.

It needs to be addressed and while I understand you hate the messengers, it doesn't make it go away by reducing it to propaganda.

If GI Korea really thinks that global warming is simply a fear-mongering tactic of "eco-loons", then does he also think that members of the US National Intelligence Council are also "eco-loons"? Here's what they recently had to say in their "Global Trends" report per the "Times":

"The report said that global warming will aggravate the scarcity of water, food and energy resources. Citing a British study, it said that climate change could force up to 200 million people to migrate to more temperate zones. 'Widening gaps in birth rates and wealth-to-poverty ratios, and the impact of climate change, could further exacerbate tensions,' it said."

I stand by GI on this one. Greenpeace was around before; and they will be around after George Bush. The two topics are not related. Both are idiots and arbitrary citations of either detract from the credibility of arguments against the other.

Greenpeace has their place in society as a counterbalance to corporate greed and governmental agenda. However, they frequently mis-choose the battles they should fight. Even though "global warming" is an environmental issue, they should show restraint and wisdom in jumping on that bandwagon.

There are many undisputed environmental issues which they should champion. They have my complete support on them. Combining Santa Clause with global warming detracts from their credibility since both of them appear to be myths (as presented to the public).

I'm disappointed my donation to Greenpeace went to this tripe. Next year, I will double my money to the ACLU or the NRA depending what they are up to.

Also, I ate whale a couple weeks ago. It was pretty good. Imagine a fillet mignon bigger than an entire cow. It was good but I'm not sure it was worth killing a whale for.

There is over 4 billion years of climate change that has happened and man had nothing to do with it. Just how can one explain that co2 levels were in the thousands when the dinosaurs were around? Man wasn't there to cause it, yet these eco fools spray their message of lies and half truths and want us to believe what they say.

Even their own peer review process is flawed. The "hockey stick" graph was reviewed by the same people who published the data in the first place. When Congress and other scientists wanted to see the data, those folks just clammed up and won't produce it.

Btw, in about 1 billion years, we won't be needing to worry about GW as that nice yellow ball in the sky won't be so nice as it is now.

This something I see time and time again, if someone can't win a debate on merits they will just throw out George Bush's name out of frustration to try and discredit the other person. It doesn't work here.
