Woman Beats Five Year Old Step Son to Death
Reminds me very much of my mother. One of my earliest memories in my life, was of my brother yelling "mom, stop it, you're going to kill him". (my brother was about 10 yrs old) It wasn't the beating so much, as for me at perhaps 2 1/2 yrs old I was used to it. (I found my secret place in my mind where she couldn't hurt me), It was the comment my brother made, that made me remember the incident. It was the first time anyone had ever said anything.
I was born when my mother was 36 yrs old, so she was pushing 40 when I remembered this.She was a fairly big woman at 5'10". Her favorite saying was "do that again and so help me I'll break your neck, I'll break every 'goddamn' bone in your body".
She was a very religious woman as well, and when she died 30 yrs later, I firmly believe she 'knew' she wasn't going to heaven.
My life turned out to be extraordinary, and I ended up being able to retire at 55, with all the trimmings. But I will never forget where I came from.

I survived for another "new year". That was not a "sure thing" once.
