Meaning, the training was as good as it could have possibley gotten but the information they had was completely incompitant. The NK gov. did not have sufficient and up to date information on Japan and Japanese culture. So if and when she was captured she was never going to have a chance to get out of it. The biggest thing I came away with was -- NK spy training was really crappy. Upon interrogation, KHH could not even give the most basic information to keep her identity as a Japanese tourist. She gave the wrong name for the Japanese emperor and the prime minister; she pretended not to know what <i>gim</i> was when it was served for her meal, which is idiotic given the amount of <i>nori</i> eaten in Japan. That made me think, at the time, maybe there was something to this conspiracy theory. The story just didn't make sense -- NK didn't teach most basic things about Japan to its spies that were supposed to pose as Japanese?
