This is good news for everyone that likes to walk around Korea’s old palaces:
The rear garden and surrounding mansions of Seoul’s Gyeongbok Palace will be opened to the public for the first time this week in nearly a century, heritage officials said Thursday.
Originally constructed in 1394 by King Taejo, the palace was the largest royal residence of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910). Continuously expanded during the reign of King Taejong, Sejong and Daewongun, it was almost wholly burnt down during the Japanese invasions of Korea. [Yonhap]
