ROK Drop Site Updates

As you all have undoubtedly noticed, a theme change of the ROK Drop is currently taking place.  Most of it is done but there are a few more styling issues that need to be worked out.  Feel free to leave a comment letting me know of any styling issues you have noticed with the updated site.

You may have also noticed that the DISQUS comment system has been installed.  I think DISQUS will add better usability in the comments section, especially since it can support threaded comments.  You don’t have to, but I recommend that everyone sign up for a DISQUS account to take advantage of the added options with DISQUS such as being able to “friend” people, accumulate comment points, avatars, etc.

There will be a few more updates to the site in the coming days, but I am curious to hear what everyone thinks of the changes so far.  Thanks.

Can you reposition the by-lines displayed on the main page? They are currently displayed above the post titles, I think, which is a little odd. It's important since many people try to disregard posts by USInKorea and Kalani. Also, your Amazon widget appears to need updating, unless you're actually recommending a Yanni CD and the Twilight book series for little girls.

Looks good, GI. Although the color scheme at first made me think of the DPRK… But of course, Korea uses the same colors ;)

Just me, but I liked the old banner image – with the Big Homonid icon – better….

As a designer, I think the new header is pretty sharp. The font and sizing in the posts and sidebar need a little work though.

As far as the header goes, it's only a matter of time before some Corean hazes you for not having two dots representing Ulleungdo and one for Dokdo since Chejudo gets four dots.LaPorte, is that an SS-Sturmbahnfuhrer uniform you're wearing?

Some of the old functionality <del>has been lost</del> changed. Before, if I looked at the RECENT COMMENTS and clicked on the last commenter's linked name in a topic, it would open the topic page and jump to the commenter's comment. Now, it just opens the topic page but does not jump. You have to manually scroll down and find the last topic.Maybe that ability was not compatible with the the new reply to individual comments feature.

Mark, LOL, but sadly I wouldn't be surprised if I got some e-mail from a VANKer complaining about that.

JoeC, I'm trying to work that issue out. The problem is that there is two different WordPress Plugins by two different designers. So sometimes there are some functionality problems because of this.

The practical problem is, if someone replies to an earlier comment, it is posted at the top of the RECENT COMMENTS list, but it won't be the last comment at the bottom of the topic's comments. It will be attached the the comment that was replied to, somewhere in the middle of all the comments. The only way to find it is to look for the "[days/hours/minutes] ago" annotation.

Just so you guys know one of the bugs I am trying to work out is when readers click on comments the posting tries to load up and then disappears. If this happens then just click on the post title and the comments will load up with no problems. I am trying to work this out.Folks keep the comments coming so I can keep trying to work these technical issues out. Thanks.

JoeC I will keep trying to see if I can work this issue out. Thanks.
