USFK Court Martial Results for February 2009

Another month and more USFK court martial statistics.  If you read the ROK criminal prosecution statistics below you will see all them are driving related to include two more DUI’s. That is 28 DUI convictions in 23 months, plus now four total DUI convictions just this year.

This tends to validate what I concluded in my recent posting that totaled the ROK criminal prosecution cases to determine that there has been an increase in off post incidents because of the fact more servicemembers are driving.

Court Martial Convictions

At a general court-martial on 6 February 2009, Staff Sergeant Lamont M. Barefield-Peace, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 19th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), was convicted of three specifications of signing a false official form, and larceny of Basic Housing Allowance and Cost of Living Allowance of a value of more than $500.  He was sentenced to reduction to Specialist (E4), forfeiture of $2,218.50 pay per month for two months, and confinement for 179 days.

At a special court-martial on 10-11 February 2009, Staff Sergeant Shelve E. Brock, 4-58th Airfield Operations Battalion, United States Army Garrison-Humphreys, Eighth United States Army, was convicted of wrongful appropriation of currency valued at more than $500, and dishonorably failing to pay a just debt.  He was sentenced to confinement for ninety (90) days, restriction for sixty (60) days, fine of $5,100.00 and a reprimand.

At a general court-martial on 19-20 February 2009, Sergeant First Class Solomon J. Bowen, 4-58th Airfield Operations Battalion, United States Garrison-Humphreys, Eighth United States Army, was acquitted of conspiracy to commit larceny, larceny, dereliction of duty, and making a false claim.

At a general court-martial on 24-25 February 2009, Sergeant Devin T. Antrum, 568th Medical Company, 168th Multifunctional Medical Battalion, United States Army Garrison- Humphreys, Eighth United States Army, was convicted of failing to obey a lawful order and two specifications of assault consummated by battery.  He was sentenced to confinement for one year and reduction to Private (E1).

At a special court-martial on 25 February 2009, Master Sergeant (E7) Preston P. Sager, 51st Logistics Readiness Squadron/CC (PACAF), Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea, was convicted of two specifications of indecent exposure.  He was sentenced to forfeiture of $2,761.00 pay per month for six (6) months and hard labor without confinement for three (3) months.

Results of ROK Criminal Prosecutions for February 2009

In Suwon District Court on 2 February 2009, Chief Warrant Officer Two Ted A. Richards of Echo Company, 302d General Support Aviation Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division, was convicted of DUI.  His adjudged sentence was a 1,000,000 Won fine.

In Wonju Branch of Chuncheon District Court on 6 February 2009, Chief Warrant Officer Three Randall R. Durkin of Bravo Company, 1-2d Aviation Battalion, 2d Infantry Division, was convicted of DUI.  His adjudged sentence was a 1,000,000 Won fine.

In Uijeongbu District Court on 20 February 2009, CPT Jundi J. Williams of United Nations Command – Joint Security Area, was convicted of a violation of the Act on Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes (a vehicular hit and run).  His adjudged sentence was a 5,000,000 Won fine.

    That is a lot of money to pay, was a kid involved?

    With such a punishment like that it makes you think there probably was.
