Korea Smashes China to Move to Next Round of WBC

After getting pummeled by Japan, Team Korea rebounded to smash China in their next game in the World Baseball Classic:

Korea has advanced to the quarterfinals of the World Baseball Classic with a 14-0 drubbing of China.

In the Tokyo Dome Sunday, pitcher Yoon Suk-min held China scoreless for six innings, giving up just two hits and striking out four.

China’s Sun Guoqiang got the loss, giving up four runs in 3.2 innings.

Korea jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first, then made it 4-0 after Lee Bum-ho hit a two-run homer in the fourth. The team added five runs each in the fifth and sixth innings before the game was called in the seventh due to the mercy rule.

Korea and Japan have advanced to the second round, but both teams will face off again Monday night to decide the Pool A winner. Japan rocked Korea Saturday 14-2.  [KBS Global]
