Investigation into Roh Moo-hyun Bribery Scandal Continues

Could you imagine what would happen if Laura Bush was discovered to have taken hundreds of thousands of dollars from Haliburton?  Well this here is about the equivalent of this:

Prosecutors are intensifying their probe into a bribery scandal involving former President Roh Moo-hyun and his wife Kwon Yang-suk.

The prosecution said it will look into former President Roh Moo-hyun’s recent statement, which said that his wife borrowed money from Tae Kwang Industry Chairman Park Yeon-cha to repay debts. The investigators said they may summon Roh and his wife as early as next week after questioning Chung Sang-moon, an aide of the former president.

Chung is also under investigation on charges of accepting 300 million won from the businessman between 2005 and 2006 in return for favors.

Prosecutors said they did not know the former first lady’s involvement in the bribery scandal before Roh admitted that she had accepted money from the tycoon.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Roh said his wife accepted “hundreds of millions of won” from Park without specifying the exact amount.

But the prosecution suspects that the former first lady received one billion won from Park.  [KBS Global]

I’m not surprised. This was the gentleman who was always claiming the moral high ground over his rivals. At least he is willing to own up to it or so it seems.

    In Seoul,

But he is not actually owning up to it. Don't you see….his wife did it, and his brother, and his press secretary, and most of his staff. If you claim the high ground you need to continually check the lowground around your position. Didn't he every think to ask "Hey honey, there seems to be an extra $500,000 in the account, where did it come from?"

As "Sgt Schultz" would say: "I know nothing".
