Kim Jong-il’s Son Comments on Rocket Launch

» by in: North Korea

I think this interview pretty much wraps up the fact that Kim Jong-nam has no chance of being the next ruler in North Korea:

kim-jong-nam-1North Korean leader Kim Jong-il’s eldest son has said the launch of the country’s long-distance rocket “would escalate tensions between North Korea and its neighbors,” and that he is “very concerned” about it, Japan’s TBS reported Wednesday.

Kim Jong-nam met with TBS reporters in a hotel in Macau, and replied in English when asked if launch of the rocket violated a UN Security Council resolution. “I don’t have any information on the launching. But if you ask me how I feel about it, I could tell you that I am keenly observing the reaction of the international community on the launching,” he said.

Asked if he is to succeed his father, he replied, “If I were the one to succeed my father, would you be able to meet me travelling in Macau in these (training) clothes? I am just one of his sons.”

Kim also said he was aware of different accounts of the launch. The North Korean media has claimed the launch was successful when in fact it failed.  [Chosun Ilbo]

If he has fallen out of favour of KJI then I feel that he is the best fit son to lead the DPRK.

Never expected more of a level headed, straight shooting dialog from this fat Kim, but I'm starting to take a liking to him!

He is certainly the most likely to die of mysterious circumstances.

You may be right. Kim Jong Nam was mentioned in the book written by Kim Jong Ils long time cook as being said to have been a girlieman. I suspect the meaning was he was "gay".

I have seen nothing to refute this and his being osterized by his father seem to confirm it.

Nam is very outspoken and yet lives his "life" normaly in Macau. His comments would seem to confirm being on the outside , yet holding no grudges. As if understanding the consequenses of his lifestyle.

It was his second son that was possibly gay:

Kenji Fujimoto's bestselling memoir, I Was Kim Jong Il's Cook, stated that Kim Jong-il believed Jong-chul was, "no good because he is like a little girl,"

Kim Jong-nam lost favor because he had become to westernized especially when he got caught trying to go to Tokyo Disneyland with his family on a fake passport.

He has been called back to Pyongyang since then but I guess he still hasn't impressed his dad and instead his youngest brother Kim Jong-un is supposed to be the successor.
