It is always good to see any of Seoul’s old buildings getting restored especially one as significant as the home Kim Koo:
Seoul City plans to restore Gyeonggyojang, which is the former office of Korea’s independence activist Kim Koo.
The Seoul city government on Monday said the restoration plans were decided after consultations with the current owners of the building, Samsung Life Insurance and Kangbuk Samsung Medical Center.
Gyeonggyojang, located in Jongno district in Seoul, is a two-story structure built in 1939. Kim began to use the building in 1945 until his assassination in 1949. The building, purchased by Samsung Foundation in 1967, has since been turned into a hospital.
The city plans to form a committee in charge of the restoration this year. Construction is expected to begin in April of next year with a completion date set for November 2011. [KBS Global]
