Hopefully this relieves traffic congestion in Seoul like they say it will:
Korea’s first under-river tunnel is set to be built under the Han River that flows through Seoul. City officials say a plan is in the works to build a 5 km-long tunnel underneath a northern riverside road between the bridges of Seongsan and Banpo.
Seoul city expects the tunnel to help ease chronic traffic congestion in that section of the North Riverside Highway. The US$722 million construction project is expected to kick off in October 2011 and be completed by 2014. [Chosun Ilbo]
