Grace Park underwent successful arthroscopic hip surgery this week and will miss up to four months of action on the LPGA Tour.

“It was a very difficult decision to have the surgery and miss time, but this was the only way to get back to being healthy and strong,” Park said in a statement. “Doctors have given me a very positive prognosis for recovery and I hope to be back playing by the end of August if all goes according to plan.”

Park has experienced problems with her lower back and hip through much of the last two seasons.

Park has six career victories on the LPGA Tour, but none since the 2004 CJ Nine Bridges Classic Presented by Sports Today. Earlier that year, she won her only major title at the Kraft Nabisco Championship.

In 2009, Park played four events, but withdrew from the J Golf Phoenix LPGA International. She missed the cut at the Kraft Nabisco Championship. Park tied for 32nd at the SBS Open at Turtle Bay and shared 12th at the MasterCard Classic.

At the close of 2004 I would have put Grace Park among the ten best female golfers in the world. Her career has been sidetracked since 2006 due to back trouble. This is the first I heard of her having hip problems also. The hip injury is another setback for Grace and as a result it is becoming more difficult to think she will ever get back to her pre 2005 form.

Grace has always been considered one of the more attractive LPGA golfers.  I know that Estee Lauder was one of her endorsements in the past.(I don’t know if it still is) A few years ago, Golf.com did a survey where you could vote for the sexiest golfer on tour. Grace was one of the eight players you could vote for.
