This is the sea of apartments that makes up the northern Seoul suburb of Uijongbu. That is the scenic Mt. Dobong in the background.

Uijongbu is it's own city just north of Seoul. It is part of the Gyeonggi Province. Nowon is the northern most suburb of Seoul.

I know it is its own city but for all intents and purposes it is a commuter suburb for people who work in Seoul.

True. Especially when they build the new metro express subway by 2016. You will be able to travel from Uijeongbu to the centre of Seoul in only 20 minutes. Pretty cool.

Uijongbu looked nothing like this 86-88…
I used to pull duty driver, (much better than being CQ list
)it took anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour to get to Yongsan, depending on traffic and what you where driving. (Pre-governed Humvees
)

It still takes about an hour to get to Yongsan from Uijongbu during the day time due to the traffic though the subway is a bit faster. I once had a taxi driver get me to Uijongbu in 25 minutes from Itaewon one night.
