Picture of the Day: The Punchbowl

The Punchbowl was the location of some of the most ferocious hill top fighting in the entire Korean War.  Click here to read more about my prior visit to this location.

David Hackworth's autobiography is a great source for picturing the on the ground fighting in the Korean War including how the war evolved: He was in Korea for the march up to the Yalu and then flight back below Seoul. Then, he came back for a 2nd tour at the Punchbowl when things had turned into trench warfare. He had also gone from low level NCO to a field commissioned officer commanding troops. It's a great source on the Korean War (and more).
