81 North Korean Refugees Now Settled in the US

I have to wonder if the writers of the North Korean Human Rights Act envisioned only this many North Korean refugees being given asylum in the US five years after the bills passage:

The number of North Korean defectors who have entered the United States as refugees since May 2006 has now reached 81, according to the Korean language Voice of America service, citing the State Department’s latest refugee entry data.

The VOA report says in April four North Korean defectors set foot on U.S. soil after being granted refugee status. Three of them reportedly came from Thailand while the other entered via an unknown third country.  [Chosun Ilbo]

There is so much more we can do than this.

Unless the US changes and decides to push for regime collapse, it is probably best to keep these North Koreans low profile…

…but…..I'd really love to hear in depth what they have to say about life in the North.
