This should be interesting to see if it ever gets built:
World Trade Center site architect Daniel Libeskind has won a design competition to transform the capital of South Korea into an international business district.
Libeskind’s firm announced late Tuesday in New York that it had been chosen as master planner for the $20 billion project. It will include a cluster of skyscrapers in residential, office and retail neighborhoods along the Han River. It will also contain cultural and educational facilities and rapid transportation systems.
Libeskind created the master plan for office towers, a Sept. 11 memorial, transit hub and arts center at ground zero. [WCAX-TV]
Via the Marmot’s Hole, this what the new business district will look like:

It may not be Hong Kong, but it does look kind of cool in my opinion.

No matter what someone builds in Seoul, with the best of intentions, it just seems to morph into the Korean a-typical building. Dirty, drab, not eco-friendly, and somewhat pretentious. Putting some english title on it, doesn't make it world class. Go buy a steam hose and spray down the city. Wash it, scrub it, take the last 20 years of grime off things. It would go a long way to making it a livable city. Teach the populace that garbage is a problem, and how to deal with it effectively. They don't live in a cow pasture anymore . Seoul craves to be a big place on the map, but the small thinking just seems to permeate the establishment.

Greedy Korean politicians and military officers will never let Yongson be a “Park”. They will cash in and attempt to build this Asian Phalus Insecurity Monument. Too bad the graft and corruption will cause the project to fail and the uncompleted phalus will sit to rot without even any windows in it…. Oh wait.. Didn’t they do that in Pyonyang already?
