He may not be getting much love in Hong Kong or Taiwan right now, but Jackie Chan continues to be popular in Korea:
Yet Chan (55) still feels affection for Korea. He often says his favorite food is yukgaejang (spicy beef soup) and kimchi stew and called Korea his second home. And this month he pays another visit to Tongyeong, South Gyeongsang Province for a charity event with 101 orphans and children from broken families nationwide starting Thursday.
He chose Tongyoeng because he served as goodwill ambassador for the city four years ago. At that time, he donated W120 million worth of goods and scholarships. He will award scholarships and deliver bicycles to children this time, too.
In an interview with the Chosun Ilbo at the beginning of this year, the 55-year old pledged to donate all his fortune to society by the time he dies, not leaving a single penny in his bank account. And he is putting his words into action. [Chosun Ilbo]
Just think four years ago Jackie Chan was targeted by the Korean media as being anti-Korean. Jackie Chan actually has a special relationship with Korea since like he said he used to live in the country and he also dated a Korean woman for eight years and nearly got married.
I like Jackie Chan and always have. It is hard to dislike a guy willing to give up his entire fortune for good causes before he dies.
