The global warming missionaries in Seoul this week have concluded their meeting:
Mayors of major cities around the world yesterday adopted the “Seoul Declaration,” reaffirming their commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and making collective efforts to combat climate change.
The declaration, which was announced at the end of the C40 Large Cities Climate Summit in Seoul, calls on major cities to transform themselves into “low-carbon cities.”
“The declaration states members’ consensus as to the seriousness of climate change, cities’ responsibility and the need for collective actions,” Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon said.
“C40 cities set a goal of transforming themselves into low-carbon cities, by cutting greenhouse gas emissions to the largest extent possible, by adapting themselves to the unavoidable climate change consequences, by making cities less vulnerable to climate change and by enhancing cities’ capacity for remediation.”
Mayors and delegates from 80 cities in 41 countries participated in the third biennial summit of the C40 Climate Leadership Group. The group was established in 2005 to fight climate change with an emphasis on the role of cities, which account for around 75 percent of global energy consumption and 80 percent of greenhouse gas emissions. [Korea Herald]
Things went just as I suspected.
The hypocrisy of this summit is quite telling. Think about it, all these mayors from 41 different countries plus their entourage had to fly to Seoul to attend this meeting. I wonder how many of them flew economy? How many flew on private jets to get there? So they are spewing all these greenhouse gases that they are demonizing into the air to attend a summit where the end result was the statement you see above.
First of all it is a waste of taxpayer money to fly these people to Korea and secondly why didn’t these people do a teleconference if they are so concerned by greenhouse gases? But the teleconference wouldn’t allow them to go on their shopping spree in Itaewon which is probably the biggest thing most of these people got accomplished during this meeting.

Are you seriously arguing that climate change is not happening? Get with the times, man. The Sarah Palin thing is so last year.

Bob!
What is "climate change"?
The topic is global warming… more specifically, man-made global warming.
When the term "climate change" suddenly gets thrown about in a global warming conversation, I know somebody has been absorbing the latest pop science talking points.
I like GI's comparison of global warming to a religion.
A true and honest Christian would feel comfortable in crossing the street without looking. God would take care of them if it was not their time… or God would bring them into the Kingdom of Heaven for eternal bliss if He chose to do so. It is a win-win situation. Why wear seat belts or motorcycle helmets?
But in reality, few Christians live their lives as if the omnipotent caring protector they try to push off on the heathens even exists.
(I'd love an explanation from a Christian point of view on this).
Global Warming True Believers are exactly like this… they claim to believe… but they really don't… at least not enough to act upon it. Apart from real lifestyle changes, a real global warming believer would be getting out his topological map and buying up currently-cheap future seaside property for his children or grandchildren.
But they aren't. And the politicians aren't. And the corporations aren't. And the governments aren't.
In fact, everyone is currently milking the "concept" of global warming for political gain, personal recognition, tax revenue, questionable social restructuring, fact-finding trips, etc… but nobody seems to be investing as if they truly believe it is going to happen.
…yet another reason I call bullcorn on it.
