Little Heard from South Korean Held Hostage In North Korea

Here is another North Korean hostage little is being heard from compared to the recent media blitz by the Ling family:

North Korea officials are reportedly avoiding making comments on a South Korean worker detained at the Gaeseong Industrial Park. The North is also refusing to convey to the detainee, known by his family name “Yoo”, daily necessities provided by the South.

A Unification Ministry official in Seoul on Tuesday stated at an informal news briefing that there is no reason to believe that the North’s evasion is evidence of change to Yoo’s whereabouts, saying that North Korean officials did not say the detainee would be moved to Pyongyang.

The official added that Seoul has yet to find out the North’s intentions behind the evasion.

Last month, the North’s Central Guidance Bureau for Special Zone Development said that it would enhance inspections of the detainee.

Earlier on Tuesday, a senior Seoul intelligence official said the South Korean worker is believed to have been moved to Pyongyang from Gaeseong.  [KBS Global]
