David Albright Comments On North Korean HEU Program

It looks like I was wrong about David Albright he in fact isn’t going to keep quiet about the recent revelations that North Korea has a secret uranium program:

A U.S. expert on nuclear technology Monday dismissed as exaggeration the threat by North Korea to begin enriching uranium to make further nuclear bombs.

“I tend to think that is an exaggeration in terms of how quickly they can do with the centrifuge plant,” David Albright, president of the Institute for Science and International Security, said in an interview with Yonhap News Agency. “There is some kind of research and experimental program, some kind of development project.”

Albright, a physicist and founder of the Washington-based independent research institute specializing in nuclear technology, was discussing the first acknowledgment by the reclusive communist state that it has a uranium program aside from its plutonium-based nuclear reactor, which had been in the process of being disabled under a six-party deal for the North’s denuclearization.  [Yonhap]

The South Koreans say they have a uranium program, A.Q. Khan says they have one, Hillary Clinton says they have one, and most importantly the North Koreans said they had a HEU program and yet despite all of this David Albright had continued to deny the existence of a HEU program.  Now here is claiming that they do in fact have one though he tries to minimize the extent of the program.  The bottom line is that they have a program, it has been going on for years while Albright was apologizing for the North Koreans and dreaming up of neo-con conspiracy theories.  Why does the media continue call this guy an expert when he has been so wrong before?

Albright has no idea what scale of HEU program the North Koreans or for how long they’ve had it, meaning he cannot possible know what is an exaggeration and what is not. But the press seems to insist on quoting that imbecile every once in awhile.

I don’t know what is more sad to see, Albright’s claims or the media that keeps quoting him as an expert? :?:

Hey, it’s the same people that keep calling Joe Biden a foreign policy expert and he’s been right…well, never.
