Cow Tax Fails, Is World Doomed from Global Warming Now?

» by GI Korea in: Environment

If global warming is something that has to be stopped immediately before we all die in an internal fiery hell of our own making then why are these cows exempt?:

One contributor to global warming — bigger than coal mines, landfills and sewage treatment plants — is being left out of efforts by the Obama administration and House Democrats to limit greenhouse gas emissions.

Cow burps.

Belching from the nation’s 170 million cattle, sheep and pigs produces about one-quarter of the methane released in the U.S. each year, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. That makes the hoofed critters the largest source of the heat-trapping gas.

In part because of an adept farm lobby campaign that equates government regulation with a cow tax, the gas that farm animals pass is exempt from legislation being considered by Congress to limit greenhouse gas emissions.

The EPA under President Barack Obama has said it has no plans to regulate the gas, even though the agency recently included methane among six greenhouse gases it believes are endangering human health and welfare.

The message circulating in Internet chat rooms, the halls of Congress and farm co-ops had America’s farms facing financial ruin if the EPA required them to purchase air-pollution permits like power plants and factories do. The cost of those permits amounted to a cow tax, farm groups argued.  [Associated Press]

This is yet another example that the global warming fear mongering is more about politics then any concern from saving the world from fiery damnation.   Maybe these politicians are refusing to implement a cow tax simply because the world has refused to warm since 1998 despite the fact more Co2 is being pumped into the atmosphere than ever before?

More politicians around the world are wisening up now to the faulty sermons of the global warming preachers:

This briefing paper outlines questions put forward by Senator Steve Fielding to the Climate Change Minister Penny Wong, the Chief Scientist, Professor Penny Sackett and Professor Will Steffen.

While the questions below are those which the Senator would like answered, the supporting material has been supplied from some leading scientists from Australia and overseas.

These are questions Senator Fielding would like answered so he can make an informed decision on whether or not an emissions trading scheme is the best course of action for Australia to take to deal with climate change and global warming.

The Senator remains open minded and has requested that the government address these questions, the answers to which are fundamental to shaping any climate change legislation.

QUESTION 1.

Is it the case that CO2 increased by 5% since 1998 whilst global temperature cooled over the same period (see Fig. 1)?

If so, why did the temperature not increase; and how can human emissions be to blame for dangerous levels of warming?

QUESTION 2.

Is it the case that the rate and magnitude of warming between 1979 and 1998 (the late 20th century phase of global warming) was not unusual in either rate or magnitude as compared with warmings that have occurred earlier in the Earth’s history (Fig. 2a, 2b)?

If the warming was not unusual, why is it perceived to have been caused by human CO2 emissions; and, in any event, why is warming a problem if the Earth has experienced similar warmings in the past?

QUESTION 3.

Is it the case that all GCM computer models projected a steady increase in temperature for the period 1990-2008, whereas in fact there were only 8 years of warming were followed by 10 years of stasis and cooling. (Fig. 3)?  [Andrew Bolt]

These are three questions that people around the world should be asking their governments before believing the scaremongering of the global warming clergy.

The obvious solution is to encourage greatly the vast consumption of beef and all cow-related products including leather – but especially eating beef.

Here, you’d literally kill two birds with one stone:

You’d cut down on the cow population and you’d have humans dropping like flies much earlier than normal due to all that consumption of red meat. That would cut down on the number of people using cars, air conditioners, all kinds of energy, and so on.

LOL, I like your train of thought. I smoke, but I only do it for the children. I pay an additional $700 a year since this february in state and federal taxes for healthcare programs for the children.(a rise of $2.00 per pack) I was trying to quit, but now I see where I perform a public service. All those freeloaders out there who do not care about children, should start thanking smokers. I truely believe those who are non smokers should also be asked to pay (for the children) by indicating so on there incometax forms. Depending on their tax bracket they would be allowed to contribute anywhere from 5-10-20% of their income(for the children).

Let’s get real–the cost of these pollution “permits” will be passed on to the consumer. The higher cost of these goods may (or may not) lead to reduced consumption of the product, which will in turn reduce pollution from the production of those goods.

How does the government plan to use this revenue stream? Likely much of it will be wasted, and much of the rest will be spent on things not related to combating “global warming”.
