The King of Pop Michael Jackson has shocked the world one last time with his sudden collapse and death today at age 50:
Entertainer Michael Jackson has died after being taken to a hospital on Thursday after suffering cardiac arrest, according to multiple reports including the Los Angeles Times and the Associated Press. CNN has not confirmed his death.
ackson, 50, had been in a coma at the hospital, sources told CNN.
Brian Oxman, a Jackson family attorney, said he was told by brother Randy Jackson that Michael Jackson collapsed at his home in west Los Angeles Thursday morning.
Family members were told of the situation and were either at the hospital or en route, Oxman said.
Fire Capt. Steve Ruda told CNN a 911 call came in from a west Los Angeles residence at 12:21 p.m.
Ruda said Jackson was treated and transferred to the UCLA Medical Center.
Asked specifics of the patient’s condition, he said he could not discuss them because of federal privacy laws.
The music icon from Gary, Indiana, is known as the “King of Pop.”
Jackson is the seventh of nine children in a well-known musical family.
At the medical center, every entrance to the emergency room was blocked by security guards. Even hospital staffers were not permitted to enter. A few people stood inside the waiting area, some of them crying. [CNN]
My condolescenses to the Jackson family for their loss if this report is in fact true, which right now it appears it is.
Michael Jackson may be thought of as an extreme weirdo in the US, but in Korea it has always seemed he was quite popular even after all the child molestation accusations. However, something I have heard repeatedly before from Koreans is that Michael Jackson had initially refused to have a concert in Korea unless the Korean government gave him Cheju-do island. Has anyone else heard this rumor before?
I have no idea if this is true or not, but what I do know is that Michael Jackson did eventually play in Korea. The first concert I could find of him playing in Korea was in October 1996.
Michael Jackson was in Korea in February 1998 on concert and even made a stop at Everland:

Here is a Korean news report of Michael Jackson again in Korea in 1999:
The 1999 concert in Seoul was to raise money for needy children around the world. Jackson even brought his children to Korea for the concert.
That was about all I could find about Michael Jackson in concert in Korea. Does anyone else know if he has had any other additional concerts in Korea?

R I P. He was a singing legend despite his legal troubles. I remember how he publicly supported young Ryan White who died of AIDS when HIV/AIDS was a taboo subject in America.

The Cheju thing is the first I’ve heard of it.
One of those times he came to Korea for a benefit thing was also a chance for him to rip off some South Korean businesses: He came at a time he was having severe financial difficulty in the US and with his record label. He came to Korea and had a high profile shopping spree. And then 6 months later he was sued by one or more Korean companies involved with him coming over who had given him sizable loans — apparently unaware of or unconcerned about the news of his financial troubles/bankruptcy in the US…

No doubt about it, this guy was a train wreck. His dad was extremely abusive, Michael never had a normal childhood. Once he became an adult he preyed on young children. Sad and pathetic.

Wow really? People never cease to amaze me. Even after everything he went through, and everything he did for people all across the world, there are still people like you. No I am not going to cuss you out, or wish you any harm. Thats not what needs to be happening right now. I share the same beliefs that Michael did, and one is that no matter how a person acts or talks, always treat them correct, and that everyone deserves respect.
Michael passed away, instead of looking at the negative that happened in his life, why not look at the facts. He was and still is the Most Popular Entertainer in the World. Thriller was and still is the Highest selling Album in history. On many different occasions his concerts and appearances benefited youth, countries, adults, and all around people across the world. But you are entitled to your opinion, so go ahead and share it.

Wow, your right! You shair the same beliefs as Michael? So just exactly how many little boys are coming to your house this weekend? After all, that IS one of those FACTS that you spoke of. Or is that one of those facts that we don’t want to remember because he was a great Showman, Artist or whatever? While he was a great artist-Showman. He was also many things that I don’t care for—even if you do.
Lets see—Thriller, highest selling album in all of time. Compaired to Child molester who paid twenty million USD to avoid conviction. Humm? Yep the almum is much more important isn’t it? Lets just forget about the children

I am the same age as he. I sometimes imagined what his life might be like; a black kid growing up in that spotlight and life of privilege. But, there were few common frames of reference. Yes, there had been other child stars, but for almost all it came to an end. They eventually had to dissolve back into normal society. That never happened with him.
Abusive father? In those days, all children were beaten by their parents. My father probably beat me more than his did. Looking back on it, I feel I deserved every one of those beatings.
I don’t believe he was a man with a fixation on children. I believe he was a man with a fixation on childhood. The childhood he never had.
Look up the Peter Pan syndrome.

Watch Louis Theroux’s “Louis, Martin and Michael” if you get a chance. Is dad comes off as being a sketchy character surrounded by yes-men in that documentary.

I’ll never forget the first time I heard Billy Jean.
It was such an awesome song… obviously sung by a hot chick… couldn’t quite make out the words… but it seemed there might have been some lipstick lesbianism going on.
Imagine my disappointment.

I wen’t to both concerts in 1998, best concert I have ever seen and I don’t even like his music. Wen’t to the first show and liked it so much I purchased tickets for the 2nd night. I remember a Korean guy ran up the ladder truck jackson used to hang himself out over the crowd with, thought the Korean guy would fall and kill himself but Jackson grabbed onto him and when the ladder went down the guy was mobbed by security. The stadium was packed and the crown was going nuts for him. If you have been to any concerts you know that is not the norm but Koreans idolized the guy. The story of cheju-do is one I heard in 98 and have heard it from a lot of people…but who knows if it is true… Still have the program in Korean from that show, the show blew me away like no other and I have seen a lot of concerts here, Pink Floyd, Scorpions, Def Leapord, Allanis Morriset, matallica, just to name a few but none of them, including the ones I saw in the States, compared to Kackon’s concert…he was a showman…

The video said that the first time MJ came was in 1996. Then in 1997 for something in Muju, then in 98 for a concert that was attended by Kim DaeJung, then in 99 for the present (at the time) visit.
He clearly stated that this was MJ’s fourth visit to Korea, so my hearing of the previous three dates seems to be correct.

I’m pretty sure most people saw this coming. Michael was super sensitive and he never had a chance to grow up. As a super sensitive superstar he learned how to manipulate people to get whatever he wanted. Yes, he took drugs and molested children. His Neverland ranch was built far away from the authorities for a purpose.
It’s unfortunate that we worship people like this. In the end, MJ was a shadow of his former self. On the bright side most everyone would agree he was the #1 dancer ever. He was also #2, #3, all the way up to #10.

In January, 2010 FBI debunked the myth of the child molestation that involved by Michael Jackson. The accusations were unjustified and only the lying cases. In fact, Michael was the real victim. He engulfed in the gross injustice since the greedy and jealous people wanted to swindle his money and also for the racism by the cold-blooded people. Michael was actually pure in mind and good-natured. What America did to Michael stands as one of the most shameful examples of engineered cruelty and unmitigated persecution to be witnessed in modern times.
