I know what I will be doing the next time I am at the bookstore. ;-)

    Stupid bookstores.

An Inconvenient Truth isn't science fiction, it is fantasy.

Science fiction still has to have believable science.

I looked and looked and didn’t understand the photo. I saw nothing out of place.

Did anyone read Gore’s book, or is the criticism coming from ignorance?

    -Just as I thought

    Lemmy,

I did not read the book.

…but I did see the movie… which, I presume, presents the same facts as the book.

After all the hype, I expected to watch the movie and walk away with some understanding of the dangers of global warming based on science and logic… I am certainly "green" in terms of pollution/litter, energy policy, land use and wildlife management.

Instead, as I watched it, there were several "waaaait a minute" moments and a couple of "no, I know that to be shyte". Later research on the internet confirmed this.

Further, I was deeply offended that Al Gore lectured me about my carbon-emitting lifestyle while HE DROVE AN SUV in the movie. This is like Jane Fonda lecturing me on patriotism and it is worthy of equal respect.

On top of that, at least a third of the movie was an Al Gore promotional video unrelated to saving the world.

I know when I am being sold something… and Al Gore is selling something… something other than saving the world.

Lemmy, do you really dare to state that criticism of An Inconvenient Truth is based on ignorance?

I would say that emotion, ignorance and other motives are the very things that support it.

Gore/global warming supporters are quick to make emotional statements…

…but much slower to back them up with any attempt at using facts to support their platform… or agenda for the intelligent ones pushing it for ulterior motives.

    Lemmy,

As the topic of global warming has come up again, did you have any comment on my post or would you further care to elaborate how criticism of Gore is based on ignorance?
