I'd like to see those pictures too Jeff. I have a few here from Osan too, nothing that impressive, but still quite a bit of rain fell here too. We also lost quite a few trees with the high winds accompanying some of the storms.

Probably nothing happened-- the Americans did as much as they could, got their end of tour award and good performance eval, and moved on. The next crew rolls in, picks up the pieces, tries to start over, and we're here in the ROK for the 59th time, one year at a time...but now maybe for 3 years.

It seems like certain meteorologists will attribute any kind of abnormal weather event to global warming to push their agenda. All the while the article even says that they had a comparable rainfall 16 years ago, and many more pollutants and vehicles have been introduced since that time. According to seasonal climatology and patterns, the Chang-ma front is exactly where it should be...over Korea. While so far this rainy season some locations have exceeded their monthly rainfall averages, they are far from the extreme totals in recorded history. We recorded about 4 inches of rain at Osan last Thursday, another 6.5 inches on Sunday, and about another 6 inches from Monday night through Tuesday. The flooding at Osan has been relatively minor, and not even comparable to the 1990 floods here.

It must be Kim Jong-Il's doing, after all he is reputed to be able to control the weather......

There was the US demand that the land at Pyeongtaek required $500 million in flood control improvements while the ROK claimed that it was impossible due to the land fill issues -- and then the ROK simply refused to talk about it. Later the ROK supposedly agreed. The question that needs to be asked is whether the ROK government actually carried through with their flood control project -- or was that just USFK-ROK flim-flam to get the project moving with no real flood control projects ever started? What happened???
