It looks like the French may soon return some historical records captured by French troops on Gangwha Island in the 18th century:
French politician and former culture minister Jack Lang has expressed hopes that Oegyujanggak may be returned to Korea, in light of the two nation’s friendly relations.
Jack Lang, who is often referred to as the cultural president of France, spoke at an international conference marking the 61st anniversary of the nation’s constitution.
He said former French president Mitterand took the first step to return the documents, adding that now is the time to return South Korea’s written heritage to correct history and promote its development. [KBS Global]
It appears that the French are following the lead of the US who returned a Korean battle flag captured during the American Campaign of 1871 on Gangwha Island.

They're also known as war souvenirs.
I'd be pissed if I had to return a war souvenir back to the guys who lost it.
I think Koreans are not getting the real message: Don't get your butt kicked.
It's really that simple.

They are cheating.
They will use the books to extort Korean government again like they did with the KTX project.
The French are dirty.
