Seoul’s Cheonggyecheon Featured In the New York Times

» by in: Seoul

The New York Times last week had a pretty complimentary article about Seoul’s Cheonggyecheon Stream which I am a fan of myself, but the references to global warming in regards to anything and everything has got to stop:

By building green corridors around the exposed waters, cities hope to attract affluent and educated workers and residents who appreciate the feel of a natural environment in an urban setting.

Environmentalists point out other benefits. Open watercourses handle flooding rains better than buried sewers do, a big consideration as global warming leads to heavier downpours. The streams also tend to cool areas overheated by sun-baked asphalt and to nourish greenery that lures wildlife as well as pedestrians.  [New York Times]

You can read more about the Cheonggyecheon here.

GI, you have got to stop. I swear if it weren't for you I wouldn't hear anything about global warming.

I don't guess anybody has told you that you are no expert either way. You have no education nor the ability to reasonably interpret data. All you have is your opinion on what you hear someone else say. Give it a rest. You are a soon to be English teacher in Korea. For several people (my opinion would be the vast majority) have little if any respect for an English teacher in Korea. If thats the best you can do, you certainly have no business interjecting your annoying opinion about global warming.

Why didn't they write anything about when the thing is nothing more than a trickle of a ditch where adjashi relieves himself just upstream of some adjima washing the restaurant dishes?

However, this is your blogsite and you can write anything you want. I would like to add that this is a darn fine blogsite and I enjoy reading.

I can't wait until global warming is over because I hate the heat! Hurry up October!
