Remembering Hiroshima After 64 Years

» by in: Japan

It has been 64 years since the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan which ultimately led to the end of World War II.  It is definitely worth your while to take a few minutes read about the decision to drop the bomb and the origins of America’s nuclear program.

One thing for certain. It was a blast.

Its well to remember the total number of Japanese civilian deaths due to WWII, (or the Pacific war, whichever you chose to call it) was 430,000, including the deaths from both atomic bombs.

The 'low' estimate of civilians killed by the Japanese in China alone (during this time) is 10,000,000. Thats 10 million. High estimate is 30,000,000 million Chinese 'civilians'. (not military, civilians)

I regret that so many died from either side who had little or nothing to do with the war, but if numbers of those killed in the effort to stop the war dead in its tracks draws sympathy from some as being unwarrented. Then they need to learn their history better.
