Dokdo Racers Embark On Global Trip

Here is some more Dokdo Nonsense for everyone, but much like the Dokdo Riders these guys are probably using the Dokdo issue to fund a around the world trip:

Six Korean youths have embarked on a year-long global tour to promote Korea’s historic ownership of the Dokdo islets in the East Sea, according to Yonhap News. The group, operating under the title “Dokdo-racer” will tour 30 countries and 50 cities, beginning with the San Francisco in the United States.

Formed in December 2008 by five students of Seoul National University (SNU) and a 26-year-old physical education teacher who quit his job to join the tour, the six plan to visit local universities and Korean communities in foreign countries to educate people about the history of Korea’s ownership of Dokdo.

Japan regularly includes Dokdo as Japanese territory in its annual defense white paper, under the name Takeshima. Korea claims according to history, geography and international law that the islets are Korean.

“Dokdo belongs to Korea, and Korean people live there. But Japan claims that the island is its territory,” said the determined leader of Dokdo-racer Han Sang-yeop Thursday.

“Japan is trying to present the island as disputed territory.

So international society may mistakenly perceive it as disputed territory between Korea and Japan. We just couldn’t sit and watch the world accept this as the truth. So we decided to take action.

Dokdo-racer will tour North and South America for six months and fly over to Australia. Afterwards, they will walk in African countries and hold a month-long campaign in South Africa when it holds the 2010 World Cup soccer finals. And then, after spending another month in Europe, they will return to Korea.  [Korea Herald]

Here is what they plan to do while visiting these cities:

The students plan to run together through city centers in “Dokdo Races,” and will pass out T-shirts printed with a Taegeuk image and the phrase “Dokdo is Korea’s beautiful island” in 16 languages. The races will be supplemented with seminars on the islets for university students, and performances of Korean folk music, dance, and Taekwondo. They will also visit mapmakers and publishers to ask that the islets be labeled Dokdo rather than “Takeshima” or “Liancourt Rocks,” names which Japan has sought to bolster its claims of sovereignty over the islets.  [Chosun Ilbo]

I went and checked the old Dokdo Rider website and sure enough the Dokdo Racers are affiliated with the Dokdo Riders.  Here is a picture of the vast crowds the Dokdo Riders played in front of during their trip when away from Korean-American communities:

I doubt the Dokdo Racers will have much bigger crowds, but they at least will score around the world trip.

They will get more attention if they self-immolate.

They should self-immolate and do the whole world a favor.

Koreans just don't seem to get that the rest of the world doesn't give a shit about them.

Rather than use an opportunity to travel the world to shut up and learn, they've taken it upon themselves to be missionaries for Korea. Unfortunately, most people they meet won't know anything about the Liancourt Rocks, so there won't be anyone to tell them to shut their pieholes.

So, who pays for this junket – Marriott's or Motel 6's? And, who carries the musical instruments while they're running?

    Good news.

It’s time for Korean propaganda now. Enough of Japanese propaganda.

It doesn’t matter if it looks weird now because research on propaganda shows that in the long term junk and serious propaganda has the same effect. Isn’t the reason why people believe that the Japanese are adorable people despite of their war crimes?

    Encounter with the Dokdo Racers…

My friend at my school (University of Utah) told me he would introduce me to some Koreans that were visiting from Seoul National University (SNU) which made me REALLY excited (as I’ll be studying there all next year, assuming I’m accepted)….
