    Damn,

All the roasted pig and beer I can drink all night for 30,000KRW with Led Zeppelin, Stones and Hendrix remembrance bands  ? I heard a few of these bands play in Hongdae and they are awesome. Also heard American Steel MC  throws a good party so I am not missing this event. Isn't Stompers on the top of Hooker Hill next to Polly's Kettle House in Itaewon? Someone correct me if I am off the map but hell yeah I'm going…

Mmm, I know Jimmy Hendrix grew up in British Columbia, but that hardly makes him a Brit, doesn't it?

Well, I didn't really hit is big until he went to the UK. He's kinda like a reverse import.

I guess you could say he was part of the later half of the British Invasion because he hit it big in the UK before becoming popular in the US. His manager had sent him over there because he knew he'd fit right in since blues-rock wasn't very popular in the US yet. Apparently, on one of his first nights in London he opened for Cream…Clapton was blown away, kept asking his friends if he was dreaming (they both became close friends). I also heard that when Sgt. Pepper was released, Hendrix and his band performed their own arrangement of the album in its entirety…the night after the album hit the stores. Yup, the guy was a genius.

    corrections:

-Monterrey Pop Festival in '67 put Jimi on the map in the States.

He was big in England before that- virtually unknown in the US.

Monterrey Pop was an absolutely stellar performance by the Experience. I suggesst a download!

-Upon arriving in England with his manager, Chas Chandler from the Animals, he stated that he wanted to meet 2 people- Jeff Beck & Eric Clapton. He was taken to see Cream and asked to jam with them. They said okay and he went out and totally smoked Clapton. Clapton stopped playing and left the stage. He was to blown away to continue.

They became good friends after that.

-At Woodstock, Jimi was well known to everyone by then. Do to huge delays in the festival, Jimi did not go on until Monday morning when most people had gone home. It was not one of his best shows and only a smaller crowd actuall saw it.

-3 days after Sgt. Pepper was released, Jimi opened a London show with the title track. He only played that song. Some members of the Beatles- I know Paul was- were in the audience.
