Personally I am surprised he got 12 years for the crime, usually rapists in Korea get off lighter then this to include having their child victim returned to their custody:
A horrifying sexual assault on an eight-year-old girl by a habitual sex offender and the court’s lighter-than-expected punishment have severely jolted South Korean society, prompting even President Lee Myung-bak to express resentment during a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, according to Yonhap News.A 57-year-old man living in Ansan, south of Seoul, was recently sentenced by a district court to 12 years in prison for brutally beating and raping the girl, known only as Na-young, a first-grade elementary school student, after kidnapping her on her way to school in December last year.
Na-young, who doctors say sustained irreversible damage to her genitals, anus and intestines as a result of the rape, has remained in the intensive care unit of a local hospital. As the Supreme Court Wednesday confirmed the lower court’s 12-year jail term for Cho, the South Korean public exploded with anger. Prosecutors had demanded a life sentence for Cho, who has a record of 17 previous crimes and spent three years in prison for rape years ago. [Korea Herald]
Now if this guy would just rape Filipinas and female US soldiers then there would be no public anger or jail time to worry about.
Or better yet if he was a film director that rapes 13 year old girls he would be the champion of liberal elitists.

Truely disgusting. He should have been executed. Do they give time off for good behavior?

Maybe Whoopie Goldberg put in a good word for him.

"The court said it took into consideration that Cho was drunk, and thus was “weaker mentally and physically.” Under the Korean law, when an intoxicated person commits a crime, the court can reduce a sentence."

Why was your article censored? The injuries to that child came about by the rape, and what Cho did after the rape. If your readers knew what he did to that little girl to make her injuries permanent, most would probably voluteer to be in on his execution.

Seriously? Look, I know South Koreans are extremely prejudiced but are you seriously comparing the rape of a nine year old child to those other crimes? there were plenty of south korean women who were raped without public anger either. and though i'm sure racism was a big part of the trials of those foreign women, i really doubt that if THIS crime was perpetrated on a child or even WOMAN of another race, it would have been met with any less outrage. really.
do you know why there was irreversible damage done to her anus and intestines? it's not just that he raped and sodomized her. it's because once he was done, he tried to get rid of the evidence of the rape by using a plunger until he sucked the intestines out from inside her. and then he tried to shove them back into her body using the handle. and if that wasn't enough, they had to cut into her side and attach a plastic bag and that's what she'll use when she has to go to the bathroom from now on.
it's absolutely sickening that he only got 12 years for this crime, and it's disturbing how you can think that this crime, perpetrated on anyone, would not be met with complete outrage. people are writing the prison he was sentenced to, asking the inmates to kill him upon arrival. hundreds of people banded together begging the police to drop him off in an isolated area and they would "take care of it." strangers want him dead and don't even consider the jail sentence they'll be met with as anything other than worth it.

Whatever, I seriously hope his death is very long and painful. A quick death would not be justice.
