While the child in the post above does his lecture for English class the anti Americanism does seem to be thickening quite steadily in S KOREA. Just seen on MBC news, how soldiers in Itaiwon are picking pockets and stealing. OH ya, and they just ran this lady who got a tooth knocked out by a raging American soldier AGAIN!!!! They are wanting us out of their NEO confused Society as they do not want to be reminded of any truths of history. That is one of my opinion’s. They view soldiers as uneducated Broke ass men that are starved for sex. Thats partly true. The Korean people do nothing but make this a more confusing situation with Juicy bars. Now that they no longer need our broke asses we should be pulling out. At least we know who will stand with us in our times of need. It is not South Korea In my opinion. Korea has a cycle of shitting upon itself all through history. But right now there is nothing for soldier to really do in this all fired Rich nation that has always been “that way” LOFL. Don’t get me wrong folks, I’m sad about this. But Damn it, this is the way the people in Korea are teaching their children. Even though the lower class Koreans still have a 14 hour work day and their suicide is 4 times that of the US we are being looked at by these folks as morons. Those of us who married Korean ladies many years ago are lucky in my opinion, as those days are gone. Now that Korean have turned into the all mighties they seem to portraying themselves as,,, I am no longer sure which direction they will go but will count on one thing for sure, it will be where the money is. We are fools for buying all the products from overseas, cutting our own people out of work and allowing a lesser product pull a better name than “Made in USA”. Those were the best, but now the tables have turned folks. Look at the shit they promote on Korean TV. My wife has 8 channels and none of them show anything decent about America. Slowly but surely I have lost hope in Korea being Non Racist. Danguen has no love for Americans even though America is in trouble now and our soldiers are not packing big fat wallets anymore the girls are allowed to take thousands of dollars from Americans in the fucking Juicy bars and not even our commanders will lift a flag on this. GI and American employee you better keep your shit shit nailed tight in these Korean Villages from here on out or you will end up being used as an international incident. I fucking loved Korean people in 70s and 80s but now the $ signs in their eyes has surpassed any decency they would show me. We will not Visit Korea as planned!! Why and for what gain? That is a Joint decision from my Korean wife and I. Our 30th anniversary is now just 3.5 weeks away. I am extremely unhappy to have come to the conclusion that we are not wanted in Korea at all. South Korea will now try to benefit on the north getting some kind of change that will empower them for more big money contracts. Believe this,, they say stay away from us American shit. Now,, Whoever wrote about gangs above should know that the Asian gangs are the most powerful not Spanish or Mexican as that person put it. Another detail on MBC news this very same night was that Americans use drugs in these Villes! More than anyone else, and the usage is going up. Do Korean people actually think GIs and other Americans actually bring these drugs to Korea with them FUUUUCK YOU. Those drugs come from Koreans. Now thats a no brainer as they are in Korea. One more thing why is it they never show Korean thieves or criminals? I suspect they have mostly Koreans in their prisons. Shit this is ridiculous and south Koreans are as easily Brain washed as North Koreans. If a Korean says it,, its true!!! If you are a Korean who has read this do not feel hatred from me Feel my desperation and confusion in a country I feel very strongly about.

i just saw this movie and in the end I just hope this gets solved for the family because I dont care if theyre American Korean Mexican Canadian or whatever. There was a murder someone commited it and that person/people involved need to pay.

First and foremost, i'm sure NONE of you knew these kids, was a part of the investigation(s), or a part of any of the trials, therefore the majority of what ALL of you say is opinionated, and circumstantial. I, on the other hand WAS there. I know both of the people involved VERY well, and was involved in the entire process. SOFA had NOTHING to do with this. I'm half korean, and it hurts me to say this, but the korean judicial system SCREWED up. Big time. Those two individuals are free because of the KOREAN JUDICIAL SYSTEM. Not Americans, the American system, or any tready the American's might have w/ Korea. Both of the kids admitted to being present during the time of the murder, and blamed each other. So to say the LEAST, both of them should've been charged w/ murder. PERIOD. No one came blame America or anyone else for the prosecutor NOT doing that. The Korean courts felt they had enough evidence to charge AND convict Eddie Lee for the murder, and was SUCCESSFUL. Arthur wasn't charged with murder for a reason, so are the Koreans saying that since they f'd up and let Eddie go (and they CAN'T try him again for the same crime) that they will assume that Arthur is the guilty party? Korea will need a LOT more solid evidence in order to get an extraiditon from the United States. Supposedly, the prosecution in Korea has "new" evidence against Patterson, so we will see. But in my honest opinion, the only "new" evidence they could have is witness testimony. I know for a FACT that NO ONE was in the bathroom besides Eddie & Arthur, so what could this witness REALLY know? And if it IS witness testimony, then a 12 year recollection seems to be easily discredible. The Koreans should've never overturned Eddie's conviction for "lack of evidence." They obviously had more than enough to convict originally.

My apologies if this point was already made, but I don't have time to go through 65 comments. I think if this movie becomes anti-anything, it will be anti-kyopo. The K-blogs don't cover this much, but there is a lot of resentment, jealousy, and disgust aimed at ethnic Koreans from the US or Canada who have returned to Korea for whatever reason.

hey JohnT… your talking like if all the koreans are anti-American… I have no problem with America or Americans but I don't like Americans who act like hypocrites going around different countries or to different people and pointing out racism when in fact racism is everywhere in the world…. I love America and I'm Korean and I lived in US which gave me opportunity to make myself a creative individual. This case is very tragic. Americans can kill anybody on the streets and Korean laws just watching! But this is because of Korean US lovers. In Kore most of the koreans are worshipping american english teachers and soldiers. Why ? All the koreans have Inferiority complex aganist americans…what a pitty!

i dont know about it being anti-americanism

but what i felt from watching this movie was that

the justice system was so weak that a possible murderer walked free whether he was an american or not, the murderer should have been jailed for what he has done, im sure theres many murderers, rapist etc walking free in the world whether theyre america, korean, chinese etc..

i just hope they get what they deserve at the end
