This is so wrong (I think my original post was censored...I used much more colourful language to express my anger).
 <a href="http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/33289924/ns/today-today_people/" rel="nofollow">http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/33289924/ns/today-t...</a>

He wears a shirt and tie to school, gets straight A's, speaks like a kid who's a few years older...And they want to send him to reform school for making an honest mistake.

The kid is gonna run for office one day, I tell ya.

Joe,

One of the VA Tech victims, Mary Karen Read, was half Korean. Her father and mother while he was serving in the Air Force and was stationed in South Korea.

The Reads, who also had a son about 7-8 years younger than Mary Karen, broke up sometime in the mid-90's. Originally Mary Karen(but I'm not sure about Stephen) went to live with her mom in Tennessee. In 2000 or 2001 MK and her brother were living with their Dad. Both Reads re-married and Mary Karen had half siblings from both parents. One of whom was born after she died.

I'm just pointing this out as a instance of the white father not being the custodial parent.

"helping the North Koreans go guerrilla"

North Korea is not Iraq. There aren't many disenfranchised North Koreans living abroad willing to die for the Kim regime.

The story on unwed mothers and abortions was interesting. While I don't have any data, I think there is another related situation that, if researched, would be interesting. Those are the cases of divorced parents and their children.

One of the things I noticed over the years was when Korean women divorced their American husbands, in almost all cases, the Korean wife would relinquish full custody of the children to the father. This was the exact opposite of what occurred when a filpina divorced. Filipinas would go to great lengths to keep custody of all her children.

Though I know of far fewer cases of Korean-Korean divorces in Korea, the same exchange seems to hold here too. Of the instances I know where a Korean woman divorces her Korean husband, the husband kept the kids. But also in those few cases, the kids were always boys. I don't know what happens in divorce in Korea when some or all the children are girls.

I don't believe that Korean women are less maternal. I think they face some harsh cultural realities Korean society imposes on them. The stigma of a woman raising children on her own is far worse than any of the alternatives, including abortion.

Even outside of Korea, that indoctrination seems to hold. Hines Ward's mother gave him up to his father initially. Only by Hines' choice did he return to her. But apparently, she was still ostracized by neighboring Koreans.

Also, from what I've read, the issues of traditional family positions and lines of succession play a large part in to resistance to adoption.
