MajGen Panter is a national treasure. I once saw a Marine coming down a hall the oposite direction from MajGen Panter snap to the side to allow him to pace. Without a beat MajGen Panter did the same on the other side, then looked left and right. Then he said in a southern drawl "Damn Marine, I thought someone important was coming up from the back, don't do that you'll give me a heart attack."

I learned at the ceremony that MG Panter has been on active duty since 1968, and is one of the few still serving that actually saw combat in Vietnam.

Enlisted in the Marine corps 1968, spent a year in Vietnam as a grunt.

With retirement from the military maybe he can get his old job back.

Probably could…he was the only bat boy that actually got to go to the plate to hit, but as I recall he did not get on base..

Sure would like to here from him where ever he is.

When I knew General Panter, he was a Captain serving on I & I duty. Truly one of the good guys have made it to the top. He was always a gentleman and never a jerk. He was a consistent leader always. I haven't seen him in twenty four years. I pray continually for his favor and protection.

Uh, *ahem* Do you just assume that everyone on the interwebtubes knows Laura's email address?

Out of curiosity, is he your daddy or did he knock you up, or both?

#3 "I remember when the General was bat boy for our baseball team in Winchester Tennessee"

Isn't "my biological fathers brother" usually called an "uncle?" Life sure is complicated these days.

LtGen Panter was my Bn Cmdr in 1992. His leadership was inspiring to all of us NCO’s at that time. When he was selected to BGen, I sent him an email congratulating him and his wife. He is a motivator and great educator for the Corps.
