Here is another survey asking people in Shanghai and Beijing about how they feel about Koreans:
Chinese people seem to regard South Korea as a strong, clean, bright and helpful country, but feel less friendly toward it than the U.S. or Russia.
This is suggested by a report published by Grand National Party lawmaker Gu Sang-chan of the National Assembly’s Foreign Affairs, Trade and Unification Committee. The report was based on a recent survey among 1,322 Beijing and Shanghai residents.
Some 28 percent of respondents said North Korea was the country they feel most friendly toward. Next were Russia (25 percent), the U.S. (22 percent), and South Korea (10.3 percent).
Some 57 percent of respondents were against North Korea’s nuclear weapons, while 38 percent either approved or said they did not care. Some 44 percent considered the South Korea-U.S. alliance “dangerous,” while 33 percent did not. A whopping 70 percent approved of a South Korea-China free trade agreement.
Asked what words came to mind when they thought of South Korea, the Korean pop culture wave, or South Korean goods, 92 percent said “clean,” followed by 83 percent for “superior,” 77 percent for “bright,” 76 percent for “strong,” 71 percent for “quality goods” and 65 percent for “honest.”
But opinions were evenly split over whether South Koreans are arrogant (51 percent) or modest or humble (49 percent). A whopping 91 percent said they believed South Korean enterprises are helpful to China, but only 55 percent said they want to work for them. [Chosun Ilbo]
I don’t know the Chinese public’s attitudes towards South Korea to really make any judgments if these findings are accurate or not, but judging by how Chinese citizens act within South Korea, they definitely have no respect for the ROK.

If the ROK would stop making false and/or misleading historical claims over certain aspects of Chinese history and geography, stop looking down on the Chinese in general and stop being such dicks on the internet about said things, maybe they would "respect" the ROK more.
korea has brought this on themselves and they have no one to blame but themselves. There is a reason for this and it isn't America's fault this time koreans-it's yours.

Yes, the Chinese can act like dicks at times, but koreans are far worse. How many Chinese have gone into a korean museum and protested against supposed inaccurate histories like koreans did in Japan?
How many Chinese have come to korea and murdered say 32 innocent koreans while wounding many more?
The list of people looking unfavorably at korea is growing and koreans and their apologists are running out of excuses.

Disagree. If you are talking about the recent historical claims by Korea they are within their rights to do so, with a strong argument on Koreas side.
I don't think the Koreans disrespect "China" as much as they recognise their own history. China has made several attempts to invade Korea in its history, while I know none of Korea invading China.
What you are asking is for is Korea to aqueise to Chinas claims and become subsurviet to what China wants.
Much of this has to do with history greater than the last 100 years.

A few years ago, there were problems in some Chinese provincial industrial areas.
Korean company owners employing Chinese labor were packing up and fleeing the country in the middle of the night when the got into financial difficulty. They left workers unpaid. Some Chinese workers even took some Korean factory managers hostage to be sure they got paid when they thought the businesses were going to shutter the doors.
It got national attention here in Korea, but I don't know if it received that much attention in the broader China. But, it might have helped taint the Chinese perception of Koreans.

I seem to recall Chinese police breaking into the South Korean Embassy in China. They beat the staff and removed several north Korean defectors who have never been heard from again and in some publications were reportedly executed by the north Koreans when they were repatriated.
Then there is the case when Chinese students rampgaged through Seoul just prior to the last olympics, injuring dozens. Insulting millions and having all punishments absolved.
Or the move to re-work history to make Kogoryo a Chinese kingdom, therebye allowing China to annex North Korea if it wants to. Kogoryo, and ethnically Korean, Korean dialect speaking people who identified themselves with Korea and left artifacts (dolems, pottery, and metal working) consistent with the three kingdoms. (Plus Kaya).
China is the borg, they steal what they cannot take by force of arms. I don't hate China, I'm just constantly surprised at what their surporters ignore. Look up Tibet,Taiwan,Spratly Islands, Kashmir, Vietnam, Russia and North Korea. China has claimed territory in all of them, and has invaded all of them in the last 60 years. Before you spout off about the US; Japan, Germany, and Korea. We let our defeated enemies and Allies run their lands after we win. Not many countries can say that, and certainly not the sainted lands of the han.
JohnT you sound like a trained appologist. My credentials: Tom F***n hates me, and he's a Korean national in the very bad sense.

Look at your second sentence and your last sentence and that's the problem.
I guess it was ok for Hitler to annex Sudetenland and even the Rhineland using this kind of logic then right?
Strong claims eh? Is this the same as solid proof? My statement stands and the key word is HISTORY. Get over yourselves koreans.
koreans run into trouble because they live their lives in the past. What once was is now no more. They should either do something about their claims or shut up and stop provoking the Chinese.
It is no secret that koreans talk trash about the Chinese. I've heard it for years.
"The Chinese are loud. The Chinese are arrogant because of their history. The Chinese are rude. The Chinese stole our history." What do you expect the Chinese to do or say?
This situation is no f'ing different than a lot of other claims by other countries. Do you see this kind of thing with them?
Although the Chinese are no angles, koreans have no one to blame but themselves.

My support for the Koreans in this matter goes back through history, and yes, many countries have very long histories and very long memories as well. The US was only discovered 400 years ago and has little history to deal with.
The issue (in my mind) does not have to do with annexation of Chinese territory so much as it does with claims by some in China that Korea belongs to them. This becomes a counter claim. (a legal issue). The proof of history support the Koreans.
In that respect, I think any world court would stand on the side of Korea, should China try to use the argument in the future. (as in invading NK to return it to its rightfull owners)
