Alledged Soldiers Busted for Smuggling 680 Pounds of Marijuana in Arizona

Unbelievable:

Three soldiers in a rental car pulled over for speeding outside Phoenix have been arrested after authorities say they found 680 pounds of marijuana and $10,000 cash inside the vehicle.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies say Dwayne Campbell, Llewellyn Stamoulis and Romaine May all were dressed in military uniform and carried valid military ID when deputies pulled over the vehicle Tuesday night on Interstate 17 near Anthem. They say the marijuana worth an estimated $544,000 was found stuffed into 12 military duffel bags in the back of the rented vehicle.

All three men were arrested on suspicion of marijuana possession, drug transportation, money laundering and conspiracy. Stamoulis also was booked on a count of driving with a suspended license.

Authorities say the 26-year-old Stamoulis and 25-year-old Campbell are both from Bronx, N.Y., while the 21-year-old May is from Chicago.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio says the men flew from New York to Tucson, where they rented the vehicle, and they were on their way to Cincinnati. It remained unclear Wednesday where the soldiers were stationed.  [Army Times]

I guess they figured that by wearing their military uniforms it wouldn’t draw suspicion to them.  However, if I was a cop the first thing I would be thinking is why are soldiers not stationed in Arizona driving around in uniform?  Additionally you would think that if you were a criminal transporting drugs the last thing you would do is speed.  To top it off when the policeman walked over to the suburban they had rented, he could smell all the marijuana inside.  You have got to love stupid criminals.

Perhaps Retired GI will have a nice racist rant about this story. Can’t wait to read about how ALL black Soldiers are (fill in the blanks).

These fine young men are innocent. They did nothing wrong and they are just being singled out by the police. The police probably planted the evidence in the vehicle without the men ever seeing them do it. This should cause public outcry amongst everyone! I think, from left to right, I saw their pictures in year books of Harvard, Yale, and MIT. All men lead fine productive lives where they contribute to society and always lend a helping hand to their neighbor.

    These men are innocent!

    Protips for Wannabe Drug Mules

    Don’t speed.

    Don’t weave.

Don’t drive on a revoked license.

Keep your $10,000 cash in a place where it can be used for a lawyer instead of confiscated under the RICO act.

Smoke a cigar, eat some kimchee, shyt in your pants… anything to keep the cop from noticing the smell of 700 pounds of freshly cut weed when you roll the window down.

Resist the urge to rent that pimpin’ Suburban… especially when heading north out of Tuscon… as most rental Suburbans contain a half ton of pot or a half ton of Mexicans… and the cops are aware of this… hence you will always be observed speeding, weaving and driving a vehicle “smelling of marijuana”… even if you aren’t.
