Yes, after MacArthur was replaced by Ridgeway and he held the line. Chipyong-ni, was perhaps a turning point in the war. Awesome courage, leadership and bravery. With no thanks to General Almond.

You can thank MacArthur and his foolish forey and rush to the Yalu for that.

Poorly equipped for winter warfare and in a rush to reach the Yalu it became a rapid advance that ignored all intelligence reports that interfered with his quest.

As a result when the Chinese came out of hiding and entered the war MacArthur and the troops he commanded were outnumbered, unprepared, uninformed and spread apart and suffered needless casualities.

Yes, it was a very tough November and December.

Only for you hosers in the Great White North, eh!

Hope it was a good one for you as it was for us this month.

Things were pretty rough that Thanksgiving up in the north. One of my best friends Dad was wounded over in the western area and medevac'd, Capt Desiderio, Easy Co. 27th Infantry (Medal of Honour) was KIA in the same action, 27 Nov 50.

"At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."

Lest we forget.

Reminds me of stories I have heard about celebrating the Marine corp birthday at the front. Everyone got to come off the line for a piece of cake. Morale building if only to let them know they weren't forgotten.
