In Kyung Kim wins Omega Dubai Ladies Masters

» by in: Sports Related

Women’s professional golf is all wrapped up for 2009. From AP-

Honolulu’s Michelle Wie put on a show and a strong rally to finish second in the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters at the Emirates Golf Club in Dubai.

Wie, who started the day six shots back of leader and eventual winner In Kyung Kim, shot a bogey-free 7-under-par 65 to finish with a 15-under 273.

IK Kimd total of 18-under 270 to win by three shots.

Wie had three birdies on the front and four on the back, including three in a row on Nos. 12-14.

She got within two shots of Kim with a hole — the par-5 18th — left. But Wie parred the hole and Kim birdied it.

Kim, who plays her golf with an almost perpetual smile on her face, has quietly played some of the best golf in the last 15 months. She won for the first time in late 2008 and then followed that up with a more than solid 2009. A win at the State Farm Classic, $1,238,396.00 in earnings, and 8th on the LPGA money list. Kim could be the #2 South Korean player in the world right now. It is either her or Na Yeon Choi. Of course, Ji Yai Shin is #1.

Michelle Wie finished 2009 on a strong note. I expect her to be in the winner’s circle at least once during the 2010 LPGA tour campaign.

‏Kim, who plays her golf with an almost perpetual smile on her face…

I really like IK Kim and think she is right up there with the best of them. But this part about her always smiling while she is out on the course?

More so than the vast majority of Korean players, I would say she appears to be totally at ease when speaking with reporters and while doing interviews – and her English is really good. She smiles often and very naturally during these occasions. She might crack a smile when passing a group of fans out on the course – probably in response to fans cheering her on.

    But a perpetual smile…?

    Nope. That's not the case.

I don't think you were watching the final of the State Farm Classic six months ago.

I apologize on the behalf of this Korean golfer. She shouldn't have done what she did.

I would like to offer my apology anyway. Koreans have no right to dirty up the LPGA. Koreans should not have the right to play in a league where they can't even speak English. I am sorry for our inability to speak your language. Nobody wants to see ugly dirty Koreans cheating and winning anything anyway. Once again I apologize on behalf of 48 million dirty kimchi eating animals.

She had a perpetual smile – four days straight – from the hole to the 18th hole?
