"Is this evidence that the Chinese government is unhappy about North Korea’s currency reevaluation?"

Doesn't sound like it. With the Chinese able to exchange unlimited amounts of North Korean won, I suspect they are doing a brisk business across the border with NK. The fees are probobly high for any tranfer of large NK funds across the border into China and then back again,(20-40%) however its better than losing everything under the NK policy of a maximum of 150,000 won.

Wouldn't be surprised if any number of high ranking NK officials are involved in illegal currency exchanges as well.

The Jack London link is cool. I always wondered where he got his Korea info for his short story in Star Rover from 1915. Great book written from the perspective of an inmate at San Quentin who astral projects to different scenarios to keep his sanity. One of the stories is of a foreign dude stranded for life in Korea in the 19th century.

Love that list at Takeshima Is Ours.

I lived in Thailand and I can tell you that everywhere I've eaten Thai food in korea, it's been shite.

It's been shite in other places, but we're talking about Thai restaurants in korea.

Better to lose 40% of your money than to lose 100%. $500-$600 dollars worth of won, I imagine, is a small fortune to most in NK.
