Park Chan-wook’s “Thirst” Ranked As One of TIME Magazines Top 10 Movies of 2009

Is this movie really as good as TIME magazine is making it out to be?

Korean film director Park Chan-wook’s “Thirst” was named one of the top 10 movies of the year by Time magazine.

On this week’s issue, Time charted the highs and lows of the past year in 50 wide-ranging lists, titled “Top 10 Everything of 2009,” in which Park Chan-wook’s latest creation “Thirst” in the “Top 10 Movies of 2009.”

The review highlighted female protagonist Kim Ok-vin as an “acting revelation,” evolving from “a creature of mute docility to one of desperate ardor, then explosive eroticism, then murderous intent.”

“She is Lady Chatterley and Lady Macbeth in one smoldering package,” the review said.  [Korea Herald]

    Maybe Time thought people were just retelling the plot when they said this movie sucked.
