He was head of Operations for the JGSDF and as we passed through the women's military history corridor, I joked with the Japanese attache who was with us that someday soon the JGSDF headquarters will have a similar corridor since they were starting to enlist women.. The Major General, without missing a beat said "and next time I come back maybe you can escort me to the homosexual military corridor. An hour later we were in with the DCSOPS and the discussion turned to Okinawa and about some of the conflicts the Army has with our Marine counterparts. We had them in Iraq, positioned around the super FOBs to shoot down incoming mortar and artillery rounds. They have an integrated radar system working in tandem with them and they work like a champ!
