Westinghouse,

"Much of the Korean genome evolved in Arctic climes (think Altaic, Tungusic, Siberian peoples) whose environmental pressures tended to favor more “beta” type males, male provisioning, more monogamous and long-term pair bonding, etc., over more “alpha” types, physical and social dominance, etc. that tend to be favored in relatively more “benign” environments"

This made some sense. I casually presented this theory to my wife. She peeked over the top of her netbook and gave me the Stupid Look.

"Did you come up with that yourself or are you just repeating some nonsense you read on the Internet?"

Before I could answer, she added,

"So, tell me how the vikings fit into this crackpot theory of yours?"

She looked back down at her netbook and we both said no more.

Any ideas how I can reclaim my scientific manhood?

Dr. Yu...

Lots to comment on here.

"Main reason why Korean man don’t marry western woman is: Western women age faster than Korean women so they get fat and unattractive after marriage."

Hmmm... I used to think that way about Korean (Asian) women. They mostly looked rugged after 30. Now-a-days, I see a lot of attractive Korean women pushing 40 and, sometimes, beyond. I don't know if I just got older, there are more missy ajumas taking care of themselves or familiarity simply breeds appreciation. It might be a bit of all.

I still think Filipinas and other SE Asians mostly look rough after 30... maybe I just have to live there for a few years to see otherwise.

I see Russian (former bargirl) wives now and then and... dammn, Dr. Yu... in the daytime, you are absolutely right. These girls look lumpy and well-worn... flopping around in the ultra-casual fashion that screams, "I used to be a whoore but look how dressed-down I am in hopes you will think I was never a whoore."

I hate that fake under-dressing... it actually looks more whoore-like in an off-duty way.

I'm sure that is not how they represented themselves prior to marriage with long, bleached hair, a micro dress and 5 inch heels. Bait and switch biitches need a good thumpin' to remind them what fuels the gravy train, eh?

None-the-less, Dr. Yu, I think the real reason Korean men don't marry Western women is because their families will not accept it.

(There is a lot of truth to the accusations of Korean men being mama's boys... at least from a Western point of view... which through media and entertainment is influencing the expectations of young Korean women as we speak.)

While marriage may not be, sexx with Western women is perfectly acceptable... haven't seen any Korean guys turn that down when presented even the possibility of an opportunity to get some... the blonder, the better.

...but, come to think of it, I don't recall any guys, anywhere, doing any differnently... regardless of where she was from, what she looked like or how many cold sores she had on her lips. Alcohol and military enlistments increase the likelihood of this condition.

"A second reason why Korean man don’t want a western women is that western women don’t fit the Korean (Asian) servitude role for women and is this same very reason why some Korean women prefer western men because they no longer want this role."

Yes. My wife and I stay home, drink wine and watch movies while her sisters are cooking, cleaning and stuck in traffic for hours and hours on holidays.

Chuseok and Solal are the two times where every woman she knows says, "You are soooo lucky to have a foreign husband." She smiles and agrees... then we go back to the other 363 days a year where she complains that a foreign husband is a social and professional handicap.

"These Korean women usually have strong personality or a very strong sense of individuality and they use to play the “chief of the family” role when married to a western man."

I would agree with that statement but I first have to ask my wife if I am allowed to. Within 24 hours of marriage, I ceded a lot of power to my wife. But she takes care of business and it makes her feel empowered. Why fight the system?

I have seen a few weak-personality Korean women marry Western men... and, in most cases, the girl was very nice but her husband was a complete diick. Kinda sad.

"Most Korean women don’t want western man so what most western guys get in Korea are those who don’t fit Korean tradition,"

I don't know if the first part is true but the second certainly is. I had a couple of very traditional Korean girlfriends from very traditional Korean families that were interested in exploring the fantasy of an exotic foreign man... not an uncommon thing, I think... although only a percentage act upon it.

The first one broke up with me when her father saw a picture of us together and told her if she "met the foreign man again" he would "disown her as a daughter". Wise father, probably.

The second one met me secretly until her family arranged a marriage for her. She was none-too-happy with this but she did her duty and married the dentist. I spoke to her a few times since and she is accepting of her lot in life and as content as she can be with a credit card and an 50 thousand dollar car.

What Western guys do get for Korean wives are abnormal women... women who are willing to go against Korean society... not something to be taken lightly.

There is an occasional over-achieving woman of exceptional personality and drive who has escaped the restrictions of Korean social and cultural expectations...

...but, more likely than not, Korean women willing to marry a foreign husband are abnormal in a bad way... half-crazy and borderline dysfunctional... especially if they met at the local foreigners' bar where she gets drunk and goes home with a different guy every night until one decides to marry her.

At least, these have been my observations.

Everyone knows this was you Tom no one got owned it is the same thing korean men always say if a korean woman marries a foreigner. A lot of korean women married to korean men cheat on their husbands with foreigners, I know several myself. You better keep you woman away from foreigners Tom or she will get a real man someday but the way you complain like a biaaatch might indicate you are gay so maybe you don't have to worry about that huh?

Look at the stats, most Korean women who marry foreigners marry Japanese and Chinese (mostly ethnic Koreans from China) men, then the white guys.

I’ve searched for these stats…but can’t find them. I’m sure you have a citation from a reputable website, right?

Guitard, here`s your source.
 http://www.koreaherald.co.kr/NEWKHSITE/data/html_...

Only 8000 Korean women married foreign men in 2008, compared to three times as much Korean men who married foreign women. Out of 8000 Korean women who married foreigners, only 8% were married to Americans. By far, the top marriage partners were Chinese (I`m sure most were ethnic Koreans) and Japanese. So I`m afraid you guys are not doing well as you think you are. Not even close.

The statistics to which you make reference are for SECOND marriages.

Nice try 탐 ~ but you fail again.
