Here is an interesting interview with North Korean national soccer coach Kim Jong-hun where among other things he had this to say:
“I think it is the result of our Great Leader’s care for our players. Asian players are not so tall, so we try to play to our strengths, to use our style of play which has served us very well in the qualifying campaign. We will defend well, play on the counter-attack with fast breaks forward, and give it our best shot at the World Cup. We may not be the favourites, but neither was our team in 1966.” [ESPN]
Coach Kim I think it is more like North Koreans are not very tall; I wonder why?

I note with some amusement that he thanks long-dead "Great Leader" Kim Il-sung instead of ostensibly-living "Dear Leader" Kim Jong-il.

Uhhh…what are you talking about? The Great Leader sent them off to bed without dinner because He was punishing them for behaving badly. If anything, it was the North Korean people's fault. The Great Leader is stern but just.

I remember reading an interview with a north Korean player a while back, sorry no link, who also first off owed his success to the dear leader and said that the reason why the north korean team did not have fridges in their room was because they could catch cold if drinking a cold soft drink. I guess when you have nothing to envy then you have to make up loose correlations.

This people are idiots, but I do not blame each and everyone personally; the system in NK totally brainwashed them… So sad!
