SSgt51SFS-J,

I think you misunderstood my intentions.

"You want someone to talk about stuff, try not taunting them"

I think you mistook a general statement aimed at a lot of other people as specifically targeting you. There was no taunt intended.

There was, however, a truthful observation about the general reaction to exposed corruption on Osan Air Base.

Please reread my post (#45)and understand the intention is not to tease... but to point out that a lot of people knew or suspected what was going on... but were silent... or even defensive.

This silence and rationalization allow corruption, at the expense of honorable servicemembers, to continue.

"BTW, as a civilian, chickenhead, you sure are throwing accusations around about the integrity of the people you talk to, without knowing all of the facts. "

Hmmm... I'm not exactly sure what you mean by that.

Accusations based on known facts are equally valid coming from a civilian or military member.

As for not knowing "all the facts", I'm sure you are correct.

...but I am curious. What facts am I unaware of that would make those known to have been involved in corruption at Osan Air Base somehow less guilty?

"Don’t point a finger, didn’t your mother ever tell you that is impolite? "

Don't point a finger? At who? Lt. Davis? Maria Dowling? Maury Forsyth? I'm curious who I shouldn't be pointing a finger at... considering they are guilty of wrongdoing... and we are both aware of how much higher than Lt. Jason Davis the Songtan club racket extended.

"If I knew anything that could help the situation now, I would, but seeing how it is 6 years later and I know not one of the people in charge now, there is no way I could change any of it"

Well... you can't be expected to help the situation now... and no one is asking you to.

However, shedding a little light on the corruption you observed 6 years ago will raise awareness and, as these things run in cycles, perhaps prevent a similar situation that affects honest servicemembers such as yourself.

For this reason, I once again hope you will reconsider exposing the dirty dealings you know or suspect were going on at that time.

@ ChickenHead. I was there when Davis had just gotten there. I did not have any idea of the scope or scale of anything going on. By the time I did know, I was already forced to leave the military and had NOWHERE to go and report any of it. By the time I found out there was a trial for Davis, It had already happened and was over. I would have loved to have walked into that court room, just to see his jaw drop. BTW, as a civilian, chickenhead, you sure are throwing accusations around about the integrity of the people you talk to, without knowing all of the facts. Don't point a finger, didn't your mother ever tell you that is impolite? If I knew anything that could help the situation now, I would, but seeing how it is 6 years later and I know not one of the people in charge now, there is no way I could change any of it, short of going in there and cracking heads together. Not all SF are corrupt bastards and not all the people effected by Davis could point a finger at anyone else involved..... You want someone to talk about stuff, try not taunting them.....Don't bother responding, I won't be adding anything else...

So - after all these protests about the leniency of Davis' sentence, the ROK just lets him back into the country to work at a hagwon, eh? Why weren't the 'concerned civic groups' waiting at Incheon International to block his entrance into the country? Well - since I'm sure this guy crossed-up the mob somewhere along the way, you can only hope they get their revenge on him since the US basically gave him a slap on the wrist...

#44 "I think that the Korean police, <strike>MP’s,</strike> & maybe representatives of the Philippines or Russia should periodically go to these ‘buy me drinky’ bars, interview the bargirls individually & determine if they are ‘trafficked’."

Fixed that for you. I agree with almost everything you said. It is none of the MP's business and seriously, they aren't competent enough to catch adjima with 25 frozen ox tails going out the gate. International law and diplomacy likely aren't their strong suit.

SSgt51SFS-J,

"Perhaps another time"

Well... I'm used to it.

Those who knew the deal were quiet and those who didn't were in denial.

It's the silence that allows the corruption to continue and allows the scumbags to get ahead while honest people fall by the wayside.

I hope you will reconsider... as some of this same corruption at Osan continues... although on a smaller scale.

Your silence enables the current crop of Lt. Jason Davis wannabes screw up the lives of the current crop of SSgt51SFS-Js.

If so then THROW THE BAR OWNER OR MANAGER IN PRISON. Other than that please leave the GI's alone. Because some of these girls MAY be trafficked it doesn't follow that ALL these places should be put off limits. If some GI is stupid enough to want to spend 300 bucks to get laid then let him. Let the GI's let off some steam & let the non-trafficked girls make a living. If you disapprove of prostitution then DON'T GO TO THE F'ING bars or bordellos. If the Philippine government wants to restrict their people from going to Korea then that is between the Philippines & Korea. Again, just leave the GI's alone. Retired GI #18 it was far more SWEET back in the late 70's & early 80's.
