Robert Park Returns to the US After North Korean Misadventure

» by in: North Korea

It will be interesting to see what Robert Park has to say in the coming days, but for someone just released from North Korea he sure looks quite grim:

n American missionary who strode illegally into North Korea on Christmas Day and was detained there for 43 days was welcomed back to the United States on Saturday evening in an emotional reunion with family members at the Los Angeles International Airport.

Robert Park was greeted by his parents and brother in a private location at the airport after arriving on a commercial flight from Beijing. Earlier Saturday, the 28-year-old Korean-American from Tucson, Arizona, flew to the Chinese capital from Pyongyang. The family stopped briefly for reporters as they left the airport in their car. A thin and pale Park said nothing and kept his eyes downcast while his brother, Paul Park, told reporters that his brother was in good condition.  [Joong Ang Ilbo]

He's mentally ill. He needs to see a psychiatrist. I don't mean that in a mean way, just constructive advice.

    "A thin and pale Park…"

Oh, come on. Everyone in that picture looks pale. It's winter, you know?

If he had an I-don't-care-if-I-die attitude, I wonder how much more good he could have done as part of the underground railroad ferrying North Korean refugees out of China.

The guy is a tool in at least two different ways.

    He looks terrible.

Pasty skin… sunken cheeks… stress-induced loss of hair pigment.

The tall Asian guy to his left looks sharp in a new suit and a fresh haircut, though.

If he were smart, he'd hurry up and get his book written and in print before Laura Ling and Euna Lee trot out their book.

Gotta strike while the iron is hot – and right now – it's cooling off by the minute.

I've already made my feelings known about what he did. North Korea didn't exactly turn out to be the proselytizing "heaven" he expected it to be as he sat isolated in his dungy DPRK cell.
