Tom, shame on you. You bashed about something happening before it even had a chance to happen.

JohnT, shame on you. You link a self-serving post that is fraught with its own bigotry and misinformation (that South Koreans don't blame their own government and society for loads of crap going on in the country), treating very troubling events of the past as if they're happening now. Indeed, while admonishing "the Korean public to please understand that it is unfair to blame every Westerner, it is unfair to blame every American, and it is unfair to blame every individual in the military. We are all different," it goes on to imply boycotts against Hyundai, Kia, Samsung, and LG.

This is a post about recognizing the contribution of Korean War vets and doing some good by them. Shame on you both for using this as a chance to get your digs in.

It's not my blog, but I hope GI Korea will step in and demand on-topic responses only on this one. I'd like for the people for whom this might be good news or useful information to be able to come here and talk about what the frickin' post is actually about.

(Otherwise there's the risk of things like this case, where a post on the brutal murder of a woman was a chance to out a long-time poster for sexual peccadilloes that were nobody else's business.)

Shame, Tom...

Nobody (that counts) will see this as anything but thoughtfulness on the part of the Korean government to show appreciation to the old men who sacrificed time and blood to build the foundation of Korea's present-day success.

It is likely that any veteran who takes advantage of this program will return to America thinking it may have been worth it...

...unless he meets you, that is.

Good on the ROK government for doing this.

I've long thought that Korean War veterans deserved automatic F-series visas to stay in Korea and work if they wished.
