If signing Park Ji-sung was for selling jerseys than I don’t think it worked out very well considering how few Manchester United jerseys I see anyone wearing in Korea:
Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson said he signed Park Ji-sung for his capabilities on the field rather his ability to help sell more club shirts in South Korea.
Park scored the winning goal as Man United came from behind to beat Liverpool 2-1 on Sunday after Rooney had scored his 33rd league and cup goal of the season, keeping the club two points clear at the top of the Premier League.
Ferguson said Park’s commercial value wasn’t an issue when he signed the South Korea winger from PSV Eindhoven in 2005. Instead, it was his work rate, intelligence and attitude. [CNNSI]
You can read more at the link as well as reading about Park’s winning goal at this link. By the way Park Ji-sung seems like a really good guy who is a talented soccer player, who works hard, and doesn’t complain a whole lot which should be reason enough for Manchester United to sign him.

I don't see many people wearing jerseys, but I do see a lot of people wearing jackets with the Manchester United crest on the front.

GI, at Woosong University where I teach at, I see a lot of the Man U Jerseys and Jackets. I have also seen a few of the notebooks with the Man U logo on then and when I ask my students why they're wearing a Man U jersey, its always because of Park Ji-sung.
