Picture of the Day: Korean Desserts

» by in: Korea-Food

Korean deserts take a little getting used to because they are not as sweet as desserts found in western countries, but now I really like eating the rice cake desserts.

Are we talking about deserts or desserts?

I've brought rice cakes to USFK friends on holidays, always careful to select the types that generally get good reviews. But always, always, always, they just eat up the ones with rice wine in them, even though I never point out that ingredient.

I have received many Korean snacks as gifts since I have been here but I hate to say I don't like them at all. Not a single one. They are very cute and dainty little snacks but eating them is not a pleasant experience. I hate to throw them away but I do. They are either greasy, tasteless, or rock hard (not candy). Sorry Korea but no thanks.

"Korean deserts take a little getting used to because they are not as sweet as desserts found in western countries…"

Who would have guessed Korean snack food would be so damned sweet.
